Change which character skin is used

I noticed some characters have multiple skins (the character changes colors) which change under circumstances I really don't understand, is there a way to control (via in game or though the files) which skin is used? I tried looking in the Air files as that's where the DEF said the animations were but I wasn't able to find the location of the alternate skins, only the main skin which despite my wishes is never used.

Alright figured it out, was a lot of messing around in the Def file

This is achieved via RemapPal or ChangeAnim controllers in the CNS files, depending on the type of sprite change
