Been playing HW for three days straight until yesterday, finished the story and started Adventure mode a bit. Jesus Christ this is gonna be long, there are so many adventure maps.
they play pretty much the same. HW has so many different weapons and styles (and the many adventure maps to find them all), and the items ; FEW  has the weapon triangle / advantage and stats, then there's the vastly upgraded badge / personal skills system which is much more interesting ; and that's it.

Weapon skill slot system is basically useless and boring in HW, but the weapon advantage and the existence of actual stats make it almighty in FEW. OTOH, the weapon triangle is frustrating because it's not very well used considering the overwhelming number of sword users and the ridiculously bad variety in bow and spear styles ; the purpose of the weapon triangle is only to speed up the weak point gauge decrease. The movement type advantage is kind of the opposite, it sees much better use and is much more noticeable at high levels. Advantage against armors is the exception since there's literally only one type of enemy that is armored.
HW has the items (hookshot, boomerang etc.), they're fun for the Zelda spirit but having to switch between them in a split second in combat when multiple types of enemies are swarming you is pretty tough (Beast Ganon is a pain too). It's possible to mash the attack buttons with one hand while searching for the correct item with the other, or run toward an enemy in the distance with one hand while searching for the item with the other, but, eh... The Definitive Edition has a prompt that shows the right item when someone is most vulnerable, the Wii U didn't have that IIRC, it's a big help to even notice what you can do, but all in all, it's a bit hard and not very practical in combat (I'd have been okay with an option in the pause menu to look at the enemies around you and pick the item, much like pausing to give orders in FEW). I'm still glad the classic Zelda items made it in, though. But it could have had a few more puzzles, the story barely required you to blow up some rocks in the first stage and then forgot about it.

So the differences between the two is exactly what makes both of those games very much fun - the stats and weapon advantage for FEW, and the many crazy weapons for HW. Other than that, they play the same, and they're both fun in what they focus on. Koei really nailed the spirit of both series. With the big graphics upgrade on HW, you can play both alternatively and you won't see the difference.

(testing Skull Kid and Linkle's Pegasus Boots for the first time - these guys are so fun)

Lantus ported Outrun on Switch homebrew. If he's excited for emulators on the Switch it's a great day.
Hopefully he cranks out some libs for other devs.

Agitha is just shit
Funny you say that, because she's considered one of the most broken characters in the game...from what I have heard, at least.
Like, I'm talking Brawl Meta Knight levels of broken

Her attack are super slow to come out, have shit reach (her normals, not her finishers), her giant summons take forever to come out, it's hard to efficiently control her flight mode, her only hope to decrease the weak point gauge is to use the juggle combo (and like half the cast has one) and that doesn't work on giant bosses so she takes forever to kill one (I mean without having all 3 badges to deplete it faster, compared to a lot of other characters with the same restriction). She has the one move where she spreads butterflies that's pretty effective and that's probably what people call broken, but most of the time she plays like shit.

Oh my god, Pikablu was going to be Pikapink.  That's hilarious.

Wow, though, a number of these I would actually like to be reintroduced, I like most of this cut content.  Just look at pre-evolution baby Meouth.

Adorable.

The anchor shark looks neat and I like how Octillery actually looked more like a tank.

Thank goodness they redid the Fire-type starter. I mean, I've got nothing against them, but I'm incredibly fond of the Cyndaquil line.

Oh, I want a diagram. I fucking love diagrams.

  • Build it, shape it, by my will.
So much to say.

Togepi, Snubbull, and a beta Aipom were all meant to be Mythicals?  The early designs of the Legendary Beasts are intriguing.  The ghost sprite from Gen 1 was originally going to be its own thing but that's suppose to be a pre-evo of Girafarig?  An early model of Huntail was meant to debut here instead of Gen 3?  Pre-evo of Mr. Mime was scrapped until Gen 4 as Mime Jr.  Blissey looked weird and I'm glad it become what it is now.  Swinub/Piloswine were meant to be Electric types?  Slowbro's tail was meant to be its own entity instead of Slowking?

This is awesome.  Would love to see that evo of Ledyba as its new Alolan form.

I especially love the baby Paras.  Despite how dreadful the actual Pokémon's stats were to use, I always liked the Paras line conceptually.  And the changes to Girafarig just leave me disappointed with the final turnout that remains to this day.

As someone there in the link said though, I think Togepi and friends were just late additions that were not categorized correctly into the pokedex yet.

Also, Umbreon was meant to be evolved with the scrapped Poison Stone, together with Bellossom and the Bellsprout line's counterpart.
P.S.: the Bellsprout line was supposed to have its own counterpart to the Oddish line's Bellossom. I'm kinda sad that got scrapped tbh...

Huh, a lot of Pokémon concepts that would have never seen the light of day otherwise.

I wonder if any of these designs will be adapted into later Pokémon games eventually. It is a shame that good hard work is wasted like this.

WarioWare Gold has fully voiced cutscenes and it's fucking weird.

I just watched the opening cutscene as not to spoil too much for myself, but yeah, it's definitely strange.

I hope NoA doesn't jerk around on this. I'd like to play the demo myself.

Yeah it's definitely weird alright... The animation doesn't match the voice acting. Like, the voice acting seems HIGH budget, while the cut scenes alone seem LOW budget. But I suppose that's the style they've used since the beginning. So I guess I shouldn't complain too much. Glad to see some old mini games return..

Yeah, it's a great entry to the Warioware series and it's basically the top 100 of mario party since it brings back a lot of old microgames. Plus the story is very funny to look at.
