Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku.
Probably one of the longest ridiculous' prefix's ever to be offical.
With the release of Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden for the 3DS, and the ripped sprites.

I took it upon myself to be the first to work on SSGSS Goku. at least a good offical one.
So far i've made....

    Young Goku
    SB1 Goku
    SSJ Goku

I skipped the SSJGod but its ok.

So gameplay! whats it gonna be like? From looking at the sprites and several videos, Im speculating its a 3 button gameplay and a 4th button for a striker.

X - Punch Combos
Y - Kick Combos
Z - Ki Blasts
X+Y - Power Up

X and Y combos are interchangeable, Infact you can only do some moves by mixing and matching the buttons.

I CANT WAIT! Anyway if only the effects from extreme butoden were ripped. Then the transformation into SSGSS would be more accurate with that blue fiery aura.

I'd suggest a 4th button for countering or command countering. Something like a parry/projectile reflect/deflect with the cost of power, like an EX move.

I'd suggest a 4th button for countering or command countering. Something like a parry/projectile reflect/deflect with the cost of power, like an EX move.
I've considered it, but I made him XYZ, using a 4th button now seems odd, I don't like the ABXY 4 button style when I make people Punch, Kick, Ki. So I won't use this idea.
how do you make those gifs? I was gonna do some stuff for Oni but idk how to make those

I use Camtasia to output GIF format, it can turn almost any video into a GIF. but You gotta watch your filesize cause even simple gif's like the above can be in the 10mb range.
Will you post a pal template? I'd love to make some pals for him

I've NEVER made a template before, so I hope this works.


Thank you everyone for your encouragement, I've been away for a week on vacation! But I'm back now and ready to continue working on him!

I already gave him palettes for , Normal Goku (black hair), SSJ Goku, and Broly colors.
I can not guarentee I will use all of this pal's but I will definately use the ones I like. (which is majority)

Updates! I've gotten quite a bit of pal's which I love.
 I've added them in.

I've updated his ki blasts to look better and more like the game. (I kinda feel like i've been doing ki blasts wrong all these years)


Next is his second super. Which is rather crappy but thats how it is from the game. This isnt finished, just the basic ground works for it.

Yup, looking nice and dynamic right here ! :)

Would be even more impactful (talking about the super) with some mini explosions and dust, and espacially some envshake.

I also made a GT palette. Although it does require color separation. Hopefully it happens so we can get even more awesome palettes.

I'm gonna exaggerate his 3rd super (the "God Kamehameha" or whatever its officially called) into a custom state cinematic super.
and After he is done with all of his gameplay mechanics, I'll probably think up something else.

Well thats not right, I can't use it obviously. But it would be nice.
As for SSGSS Vegeta, He will be there, Goku will be getting 3 strikers (the ABC buttons)

Also due to Goku having currently 29 palettes, during the intro if you press Start it will randomly give you a new palette.
I do not want to go down the route of "Palette Selector", I don't like to follow trends.

for some reason it could be better it end of that attack is kamehameha :v )

That would take away from the excitement and the point of a kamehameha having it's own attack. It's a ki blast barrage attack. It looks pretty sexy. Dem after images.

Are you taking ideas? Because I have one. A super to send your opponent flying across the ground with you chasing him and beating him to a pulp, stopping, letting him (supposedly fly around the earth) appear behind you and you stop him with your hand as if to like...idk just break all his bones. That's always cool. Adell did something similar in Disgaea 2 I think? Been a while. Or maybe he just acted as a meteor and dove at his opponent? Idk. Brainstorming here.

I'm probably the only one who doesn't like the ki blast sprites (too wavy looking for my taste).
Palette possibilities would open up if you did get around to color separating the top and bottom, but I get not wanting to do it.
His hair and shoes share a color (I know its probably from the rips but that was kinda annoying for the palette. Speaking of, I took a shot at making one

Can I ask about the blues and green tones in the palette since they aren't tied to anything in the template you provided? ( I know in the rips im using, the greens were for the super saiyan eyes but obviously not here)

I've altered the Ki Blasts to take 200 energy a blast, so its not spamable, (well it is but the cost of using all 14 Ki Blast shot is 3 guages) which deals less than a super.

I would never color separate Goku, I hope someone else can.
Also his shoes and hair do not have any shared color. Its probably the program you used to make the pals.
If it makes it any better, Im gonna post a Beta when I finish up his 5000's.

I remember seeing somewhere a glowing hair SSGSS.  Food for thought - though maybe not, as it wouldn't be accurate but just fanciful.

His signature moves are generally considered to be :  Warp kamehameha, and some super god counter punch (xenoverse)

Lol, thank you for noticing my whining and sorry for the idea thing. Didn't consider that you only have what the game, Extreme Butouden, gave you.

Color separation sucks major ass. I started doing it with my Agrias and I regretted it. I've only gottn her stand, walk, crouch, jump and...that's it. Been like 2 months since I did that.
Also, I experienced that same issue. Hair and shoes share I think 2 colors. I tried to make a palette, but with the shoe/hair issue I just...I....

Whether or not they actually share a color, in the palette template you provided everyone, they do, so it makes making the palettes slightly annoying.

I use !draw to make palettes, and its never failed me.
I don't know what other people use but... they made lots of em.
did you try adding the sprite to FF3, and then editing the palette there?

The sprites in the template aren't paletted properly. I'm not sure what other evidence you want?

Maybe i'm saying it wrong, so let me clarify again. Your palette is probably fine.
The way the image adapted to your palette, is wrong. It shared two of those colors. You said you never maade a palette template like this before right? I've seen this happen with people who do it a lot. I'm just letting you know this is happening.

i will say this, something may have went wonky in making the template, but i have a copy from Ryon of him to test/ make the first set of palettes for him & there are No  shared colors in the current form of the character i used to make the palette , so im not really sure what happened in making the template

OH that issue with normal hair color , for some reason the hair is shared to his boot, but its only for normal goku sprites, thats just like 4 frames of the intro.

Thats why I included the normal sprite of goku, so you could see if it gave you a issue.
surprisingly no one really made any issues with normal goku hair

he should be able to select 12 of his palettes normally depending on the button you press when selecting him. like normal characters.

Well the ones i got when i selected via button pressed were the normal one, ssg (5 times), Broly, SS, base form, buu and white skined one (2 times) and thats pretty much it and another reason as to why i dont like the start costume thing is because if theres a certain colour you like, you have to keep pressing start and hope you find it.
and how come he doesnt have a grounded kamehameha? and will he have grabs

EDIT: i may try and add them myself and see how it goes

EDIT3: how exactly do you make palettes as i just recolour the image in paint dot net (the way i do it is probably wrong)

He's definitely fun to play, even though the gameplay is really simple.

- I feel like he's missing some air dash and super jump. This kind of easy auto combo gameplay calls for more mobility.
- Both his supers are lacking a noFG assertspecial.
- Will you be adding a straight forward Kamehameha ?

It feels great so far. You should know though that P,P, K,K loops into itself for an infinite. There's a bit of timing involved, but it's not difficult to do.

I forgot about the FG, and as for a straight forward kamehameha, I don't know because he doesnt have sprites for it.

By all means please do. So since all the characters have various moves and stuff the best way I saw to integrate it into mugen was to make them play like Budokai. So for goku

All lead to different moves which can be changed into Knock Up/Down moves, which are followed up by Ki Button (Supers)

I also have it so supers done in a combo takes 1 gauge, but supers done alone (stand alone) are 2 gauges.
Its really fun gameplay because there are alot of combinations you can do to beat someone.

As of now (I have not decided) all attacks do 25,2 damage. Everything.
Its VERY fair with everyone being so weak considering how many times he can hit you.
 
But do you guy's think I should make him do more damage? Also Next Beta coming when I finish the Burst Kamehameha.

It seems appropriate that a huge combo'er does almost half your hp in a 40-hit combo. Maybe a little bit more damage? 27,2? In most official games, the largest combo you can get a character to do usually brings your opponent down to about %10 health at best so it's definitely far from being cheap if you're worried about that.

I started the 3 Button trend YEARS ago for Chibi characters (cause everyone freaking sucks at making chibi characters!)
So this would be the first time my 3 Button style was brough over to big people.

The outlines on those last 2 look terrible, if you wanna make a Tron-themed palette you can always color the gi all black and things like the belt and boots and hair cyan or orange/red colored. The outline just doesnt work at all (plus it looks like a Symbiote of some sort)

Nice progress. :)

- In the video, at 1'20, you can see the upwards kamehameha is cut, at the top right of the screen.
- I'd personally realign the forward run/dash FX to be a little more behind Goku rather than just under him, but that's just me.
- For the new super, I don't understand the point of dashing towards P2 to throw a Kmh near him ? The super looks nice nevertheless, it's just that I don't get why Goku would need to go near him LOL.

On that lvl 3 super would be nice if Goku hit the opponent a second time during the transation of the super (when he flying towards the opponent Goku hit the opponent with a second blow that actually send the opponent to the ground and then finish it off with a Kamekameha to its face)

Right now, that lvl3 super looks so... odd, like flying that nearby just to throw the kamekameha?? Looks a bit underwhelming imo.

Pretty slick beta otherwise, nice work!

Just gonna throw my two cents in and say I personally like that little touch. It helps the move differ from every other DBZ super where they throw a beam from ten miles away.
Is finding MUGEN to be more enjoyable to play when you're not wearing clothes an underrated opinion?

Yeah I know its cut at the top. thats how the effect is LOL, Nothing I can do, I really wish there was a longer version. Hence the reason I said he is for 1.0 and not 1.1, you might not notice its cut off in 1.0.

Dash effects aren't complete I need some other effects for it.

You know what, I agree with you but that's how his Kamehameha is in EB. Its WEIRD he actually flies to them just to beam them on the ground.

they're basing that transformation off the movie BoG (Battle of Gods) where Goku reverts to his SSJ form and fires a Kamehameha at Beerus while they were above the earths atmosphere

The only way I could make sense of it would probably be because maybe energy blasts kind of dissipate in power near it's end? Like how in certain Marvel vs Capcom for example, using a Shinku Hadouken while the opponent is on the far end of the screen would give you 25 hits, but using it close up to the opponent would maybe give you 30+ or something along those lines. Might be off something fierce as far as the numbers go, but that's the only thing I can think of as far as that goes..

ki blasts don't dissipate near the end.

in MVC the character is on the other side of the screen, during the move there are several frames of BEAM that arent touching them, thus the hits are reduced.

the kamehameha could be about 25 his, i've limited it to 16 regardless. unless they are to high.

During the Windows 10 upgrade, I had a black screen "error" which caused me to do a clean install. So it set me back.
Alexei kept a copy of him for me (at his most update-st) So I'm back again working on him for his final release.

FEEDBACK
Stand animations problem:
- press F2 and Goku will still be in his "normal" pose, move him a little and he's tired.

This is your code:

it's much more responsive and doesn't create any errors.

Easy infinites:
- punch, punch, kick, kick -> repeat until you defeat the enemy.
- kick, kick -> wait a splitsecond -> repeat until you defeat the enemy.
- punch, punch, -> wait a bit -> repeat until you defeat the enemy. This is more difficult to do (you don't have to complete the combo) but still possible: I was able to do it for 8 hits.

For the ki blasts (z button):
- Shadows for the Ki blasts;
- I can just keep the z button pressed and he will shoot all the ki blasts he can...
    wouldn't it be better if you had to press the button to shoot them instead of keeping it pressed?

For the Ki Barrage (aerial super: D,DF,F,z):
- the last ki blast for the aerial super doesn't knock down the enemy like the other ki blasts do;
- default guardsounds for all the aerial super ki blasts;
- all the ki blasts have shadow;
- every effect has shadow (AssertSpecials with the noshadow flag are missing in the helper states)
(yes, I've disabled the background effects to see that; and you know why? Even with those I could see the shadow at the end of the supermove; go the extra mile for things like this ;), don't just think you have a black background and say "who cares about shadows?")
- if you hit Goku while he's falling down from the move, he'll stand on air;

For the diagonal Kamehameha super ("ground" super: D,DF,F,z):
- effects have shadow;
- hitting Goku while he's falling down causes him to stand on air;

For the aerial grab (z button):
- if he throws the opponent (let's say another SSGSS Goku), the opponent will fall down below the floor level for some frames then hit the ground;

and that's that.
