A shooting has occurred at the Capital Gazette in Anne Arundel County, a paper that is owned by The Baltimore Sun, according to reports from Gazette staff. Anne Arundel County Police confirmed there was an “active shooter” at 888 Bestgate Road, where the newspaper’s offices are located. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed it was responding to a “shooting incident” at the Gazette.

Phil Davis, a Gazette crime reporter who was there at the time of the shooting, said that multiple people had been shot. Police did not immediately respond to requests for further information. Police said the building was being evacuated as officers continue searching it. Gov. Larry Hogan, on Twitter, wrote, “Absolutely devastated to learn of this tragedy in Annapolis.” “Please, heed all warnings and stay away from the area. Praying for those at the scene and for our community,” he wrote.

Update: Sheriff's office confirmed multiple fatalities and that the shooter is now in police custody

Found the court record for the defamation lawsuit that the shooter filed after the story was published, which contains the text of the original news article in its entirety;

tldr; the judge dismissed the lawsuit on the grounds that the future shooter was unable to prove that the newspaper article contained false information about him, since it was based on a public criminal conviction record. Probably worth noting that Ramos represented himself in court, rather than hiring a lawyer, and tried to argue with the judge afterward.

The appeals court also threw out his suit in 2015 on the same grounds

That's crazy, all of that for something that was his fault in the first place. You got to be careful who you try to be friendly with nowadays, which is sad because you never know what they might do.

Thanks; besides using his name and hiding the victim's , the newspaper really did nothing wrong and even that is very minor.

Giving the perp's name away is pretty much standard practice in journalism, the bloodthirsty media couldn't report recently committed or on-going crimes like shootings if they weren't allowed to use the suspects' names after those were released by law enforcement.

Yeah I mean, that's the only thing that sounds unfair in the reporting; due to his reaction I was expecting something similar to a medium post by the journalist as in, something terribly loopsided. He was pretty far gone, to have any sort of reaction at asimple, unbiased news report; it makes you wonder how did he even get access to guns.
