From R07:
The word is finally out.
Today, I'd like to talk about Ougon Musou Kyoku, the centerpiece of it all.

We've been working on this one for a pretty long time now.
We always wanted to make a fighting game some day! So we had a dream, we had the help of many people we will be forever indebted to, and we had a work to put all our effort in.

Actually, the reason we started working of this is because of our talks with BT-san.
(And it's a great pain that he couldn't make it to this day...)
And, after all these years, all these people put so much effort into this.

Netplay, full-voiced. Many tricks we wanted to include in the system, etc. etc.
Anyways, there are tons of combos and ボコスカ (?), so we think we've done a splendid job.

There are also some "Umineko-like" mechanics which can only be seen in Ougon Musou Kyoku, so make sure to enjoy them, too.

For more details on the game, make sure to check out "Ougon Musou Kyoku" website, which is already open to the public.

Characters: (// Ability)
Battler // Resurrection (HP is recovering over time)
Beatrice // InfinitySP (Special Attacks do not consume any SP bar)
Kanon // SilentAttack (Decreases the SP gained by the opponent from your attacks)
Shannon // AutoGuard (Guard is always automatically up if in a guardable situation)
Ronove // CounterBoost (Increases damage dealt by your counters)
Virgilia //Brimful (SP is filling over time)
Eva-Beatrice // Berserk
Ange // StunBoost (Increases chance of stunning the opponents with your attacks)
Lucifer // AttackTouch (Allows you to use AttackTouch without using a gauge once)
Siesta 410 // BreakBoost (Increases damage dealt to opponent's Break Limit, making guard breaking easier)

Some notes about the gameplay which can be derived from the screenshots, both important and minor:

- There are more than one life bars, at least three of them can be seen (blue, yellow and red). I guess they work the same way as lifes in Darkstalkers.
- You may or may not choose the same characters for both slots on your team - there are no screens with such teams.
- Counter-hits are present.
- There are two versions of each stage. This may or may not have some gameplay meaning.
- The time limit can be greater than 100 seconds, probably because of character switching and multiple life bars.
- The life bar is shared by both characters on the team, as it doesn't change with characters.
- Break Limit gauge is your usual guard gauge, it fills when you block moves and you get a guard break when it's full.
- The gauge that you fill while dealing damage, blocking moves etc. is your second character's SP gauge, so if you want to actually use the gauge that you filled, you must switch characters.
- You may switch characters by spending one stock of your second character's SP gauge. After that, your Assist gauge drops to zero, and you must wait for it to fill to change characters again.
- You may burst by spending two stocks of your second character's SP gauge.
- There are three ways of switching characters, all of which require a filled Assist bar. First, there are Touch (which simply switches characters) and Attack Touch (which comes with a free hit to continue the combo). Both of them cost half a stock of your second character's SP bar, but the former actually gives it to the character you switch from AND gives the now-first character the second character's ability.
- The burst is called Damage Touch, and it's the third way of switching characters. It costs you two stocks of your second character's SP gauge and gives you nothing - except for the burst itself, of course.
- To enter the Meta-Field, you must switch characters at least twice. If you do, your half of the Meta-Field bar turns red, and you can activate it whenever you want. You can probably use it as a cancel, Arcana Heart-style. Activating it also activates the abilities of the two characters you selected.

Wow, this looks nice.
Is this a fangame ?
Also, since I know nothing about the last animes, is this based on an actual manga/anime, or is it just a game made with anime styled graphics ?

Wait a second, a fighting game?! Unbelievable! I thought they were planning to do a sound novel this time too. Or is this a different project?

Also, if it's really going to happen, that means there's still hope to see this in MUGEN, in case you hated Baggy's stuff like I do.

More information, but don't know if it's really good news or not for some people:

Besides, 07th Expansion has told the game is made by collaboration with specialists of each field. Because when “Higurashi when they cry”’s 3D fighting game “Higrashi Daybreak” was released 2005, Doujin club Tasogare Frontier took part in developing the game, also this time the specialists might mean Tasogare Frontier.

Tasogare Frontier aka the ones who did the Touhou fighting games. Let's hope they do a good job here.

I don't think satan will be playable, she  seems to be already a striker for ange.

Umineko -Tsubasa is the new sound novel which will include all of the extras that were published as the nvoels were released. The Episode 8 will also get released.

Also, since I know nothing about the last animes, is this based on an actual manga/anime, or is it just a game made with anime styled graphics ?

It's based of a VN which spawned an aniem and several manga series it's getting a ps3 port too.

as a striker maybe ? the one I saw was lucifer, unless you are not familiar with the series in which case I add.

There are seven Stakes of Purgatory, each named after a demon representing one of the seven deadly sins.

They are:

    * Lucifer
    * Leviathan
    * Satan
    * Belphegor
    * Mammon
    * Beelzebub
    * Asmodeus

anywa, main site has been updated/created,:
http://07th-expansion.net/ogon/Main.htm
currently only beatrice and batler are confirmed (yeah right), they will keep on confirming more charcters in the following days.
http://07th-expansion.net/ogon/character.html
Battler, Ange, Shannon, Kanon, Beatrice, Evatrice, Virgilia, Ronove, Lucifer, and Siesta 410 are showed as playable in the screenshots, so that's probably all 10, in teh site now, but mthey might add more slots; anyway, I am about to preorder the game.

and 07th expantion managed to beat capcom in putting phoenix wright in a fighting game.

Direct link to the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmt09SloUY0

What I can see in the video:

- Gameplay feels stiff in some characters, like the bunny, or is it the video that's making it feel like that in some characters?

- Holy shit, are they comboing supers one after another?

- It appears you can swap your main fighter with a helper in the middle of the fight (in a combo or just standing). Both characters share the same lifebar, so it's probable that you don't get to use the other if one dies (like in KoF or TvC). Seems there's a cooling system that you can see below.

- Speaking of lifebar, wow it's really big. I mean, it seems the lifebar has 3 levels. Just wow.

- I think the powerbar is of 5000, in MUGEN terms.

- Seems like some sort of Burst is there. Also, like in Arcana Heart, it seems the stage changes if you do something (sorta like in Arcana Heart 3 when you trigger your Arcana Mode, if you've seen videos of AH3 you know what I mean).

- There's Guard Break too.

- Analysis of the characters:

> Battler: looks like he has a laser beam and a grab (not sure if it's really one or not) as supers. A special that makes him summon as bird as projectile). He seems to be like your usual main character who's balanced.

> Siesta (the bunny): three supers that are long range (projectiles) and one is short range. One is just some straight shots one after the other with low speed, blockable. Another seems to shoot multiple ones at the same time, that stays on the screen for some time (or not, maybe depends if they're in that strange mode that changes the stage). The last is a single straight shoot that she does with another Siesta (but it's dodged, so I don't know if it hurts or not or if it's unblockable or not). The one that is short range seems to have invincibility frames on startup. Basically your typical character with good projectiles, best used probably in long distance.

> Ronove: a physical (high probability) counter super that is really cool, another with middle range that uses roses, and some sort of attack that makes him change to demon form and attack, with long range (possibly covers all ground in front of him but blockable). A special that makes him create a shield in front of him that nullifies one attack (seems he can move while the shield is on). He seems slow. Can't figure his style of gameplay.

> Kannon: one super, either one strong slash or multiple slashes that end up with a strong slash. It's not clear. Possibly he will be fast but not really powerful.

> Shannon: three supers, one that surrounds her with a shield (like Reimu's Hakurei Barrier), one that summons a lighting and another that creates a block that moves forward. Can't figure it out her gameplay. They obviously wanted to make her breasts bounce in some of her supers.

> Virigilia: Use of huge projectiles with the form of a lance, as far as I've seen. One super makes her summon the goats. That's all I can see.

> Eva Beatrice: Nothing is seen, except she can block and do a crouch attack :S

> Beatrice: well, can't really tell a lot. She can summon two pilars (a super), another attack that looks like a Shoryuken the way it works, and a last one that is aerial that seems to surround the opponent with a seal. That's all I can see.

> Lucifer: seems quite agile when she moves. One super makes her throw the stakes, but it fails to hit, so I can't say what it does. Another is aerial and makes her descend to the ground using her legs to attack (which transform into a drill). She can teleport behind the character, that can be seen after blocking Battler laser beam.

> Angie: LOL at suplex super. Also, she seems to be able to summon Sakutarou (you can see it near the end). That's all I can see.

I just watched the video while my program was compiling so:
(win)chiester looks "stiff" because her standing attacks are horrible,her crouching attacks are ok.

you can do tag combos, that's pretty nice I did not pay much attention to bar management, since it might change; the game seems to use 3 buttons (weak mid strong).

Okay, I looked a little more at the video. Supposely, you have the break limit, that is your guard break indicator. Fill it to the max and you go Guard Break. It fills when you block. And it fills fast. A lot fast.

Also, the bars below the timer are for the thing that makes the stage change. It slowly goes down until it reaches 0, then it fills again with normal speed.

And below the stage, you can find 5 slots, which are like powerbars. They're not them, of course. It's what you need to spend to swap between characters. It seems there are different ways to change characters. One triggers a super inmediately after changing (spends 4 bars). Another makes the stage change (close to 2 and half bars). The normal one that just makes the next character appear and attack (1 bar). And the burst which for some reason also spends 2 and half bars. It fills really fast with combos in the video. They're the powerbars of your friend, I was wrong. Still, to Burst you need to spend 2 power from the character IN RESERVE, not yours.

The other powerbar is the wing that is close to that number below the character portrait in the lifebar (that number indicates how much power you have). 5 powerbar is the max, and it seems supers spend 1 power, all of them in the video. Changing the stage also spends 1 power.

Now to explain the way the fighting system works for spending power. It appears that swapping characters gives you power. Also, it seems that while the stage is changed, the one who changed it doesn't need to spend power to use supers. At least that's what I see (specially in a part where Siesta just spams supers against Ronove). But how do you obtain power? Well, the only way I've seen in the video is by swapping characters. Attacks don't give back power, I'm sure of it. So yeah, the fighting system will probably be mainly of swapping characters to do combos or/and regain power to do more damage. You don't get power, but your friend does. You will have to swap eventually if you want to use the "Change stage" and supers. Oh, it's a combo friendly game, like Blazblue.

Take into account that the system may change when the game is released. Also, this is just what I believe is how it works by watching the video. So don't believe this is 100% true.

Yeah, it looks  like some changes regarding power management are a must.

Someone get me this game so I can rip the effects. And play it or something.

I am trying to buy it but it's already sold out, I am waiting for next week's shipment (and the game won't come out until december 30).
