Hiya, a topic about this sprite sheet I'm working on was inevitable, decided to make this today because it's really something I eager to work on.

Before I begin, here is a proposed moveset for her that would mesh her SF4 and SF5 moveset into one character, if you're interested in reading and maybe leave some feedback then feel free to do so:

I am no coder, which means I'll only be able to make the sprite sheet. What I made above was basically what I consider would be the best way to make a Juri for Mugen, instead of adapting her from one game maybe it would more interesting to make a hybrid version of her.

The sprite base comes with 70 colors (including the background)! This can ensure a lot a lot of creativity for new colors :D

Some notes about the sprite sheet:

-I'll finish her special moves first as I started with those;
-Special effects (projectiles, flames, etc) will likely be left for much later;
-The least amount of SF3 sprites per character seems to be 800, I'm not sure how many will be done for her as of now though;
-There will, inevitably, where I'll be inactive for a while. During those times, you may bump this thread only contributing with new palettes, fixes to sprites, or perhaps new sprites if you want to contribute that much.

Any feedback, criticism, etc is appreciated. All I want is to make sure to deliver sprites of good quality to the community, keeping a consistent quality that would ensure the most true of a SF3 experience with this sprite sheet when it sees the light of the day.

I am excited to see someone working on a full SF3 sprite set! These sprites and animations are look great so far.

Do you have any difficulty in creating these CPS3 sprites? How long it takes you to make them?

So after some planning, I've decided I'll change the colors for the "Black lines/spiked bracelet". Reason being that the shades in the original frames is already black and so are the ones in this CS'd palette I made, which can blend too well and make it confusing to distinguish color units in pixels... I dunno if I explained it right, but if you work with palettes you likely know what I'm talking about.

I like her. I can not wait to see the sheet finished. :)

Do you have any difficulty in creating these CPS3 sprites? How long it takes you to make them?

Some of the frames can be difficult to make, the fingers are quite intricate in pretty much all of them though which is a pain :T... I don't clock it, but these unfinished ones by Chamat probably takes 20 minutes at least.

Tbh that would be a great idea! It would give him a chance to redraw her frame by frame!
In this event it would be interesting to see some new chars in SFIII format, maybe to mix up the gameplay abit too alongside the fellow combatants from III-Third Strike. From what I remember there was Sagat to be made and Oni too so let's see :D

SF3 gameplay is exactly what I have in mind, obviously with all the supers being available though. However again I have no coding knowledge so my wish would be for the first full character of hers adapted from this sprite sheet to have SF3 style gameplay (along with the proposed hybrid moveset in OP).

Another thing is I have some names in mind regarding coders, but refrain from saying them as it can come off kind of... pretentious, I guess? For lack of a better word.

Code wise. My mugen build is basically like my Ryu and Sagat. A mugenized mash of a character with unique moves. Not overly cheap but can take on 2 or 3 characters by themselves. (I have a hard time taking on 4 because one always gets behind me)
If you're looking for source accurate, I am not the guy. I make my hitboxes tight to the body. Seems people dont like it, but it makes for more thrilling rounds imo.

imo gm's characters aren't really the go-to if you want the best 3rd strike accuracy, by now his characters have kinks and issues that doesn't really hold up all that well today, if anything RAJAA should be the one to code Juri since he strives for pin-point accuracy coding-wise

God i adore these sprites, and can't wait to start making animations for her! Might i ask one thing though
I was sketching up frames for a stand turning animation, and noticed that the belt wouldn't really fit with how its placed in the initial idle frame. I merely ask, mind if i tweak it? I was thinking of having it fall behind her standing leg instead of loosely hanging off the raised one. Just a suggestion feel free to shoot me down :p
Regardless, i do sincerely like these sprites, and heres a possible pallete ya might like. Massively excited this is a thing now

Hmmm I see... alright, I'll download some of your characters to get an idea of how you make them, then I'll give you a reply about it. I'm not sure if hitboxes tight to the body would work with her since her attacks are quite... exquisite for lack of a better word :P

Maybe now it's okay for me to say that Rajaa is the guy I'd love to see code her when it comes to SF3 style gameplay, his SF3 creations are just the best there is imo.

I haven't even started a second frame for her stand animation yet (I plan to do a similar animation to Ryu and the other shotos, since her SF4 pose is too quiet for a sprite animation), I think you can go for it.

Also nice color you made there, really like the tone you chose for the pants, it's quite unique :). Will update the OP with your palette.

Yeah, I know, raaja's stuff is insane, as for GM, His stuff is awesome for me, every combo I know works with them, they behave like they should, in the 3rd strike department they are right behind Raaja stuff.
Umihei and the rest are not as good as Rajaa and GM chars, In my humble opinion.
I  did try to open GM's stuff and see how it all works, I got some of it, translated some stuff as well and from what I gatherd they are coded very well. His MOW stuff is also top notch. GM's AI is balls hard but damn it amazes me some time, they behave like people some what, they do the ''bar dance'' and stuff some really neat touches.

As for accuracy with Jury, its gonna be a bit iffy cause she was not in SF3 but if someone has the skill to do it, its both Rajaa and GM.

Credits to Chamat for providing the wip frames. Along with that, CS changed a bit, the black colors have changed to a silver-ish tone because it was hard to distinguish those tones while spriting (check the OP).

In case you're wondering about the edited Chun-li sprite, Juri's new special move in SFV has essentially the same animation as that one Chun-li super in SF3 (only exception being her upper body, when she lands).

Oh wow, damn is that animation SMOOTH! That had to take a lot of time to do. .____.

That first FX also looks really nice. For some reason I can't help but reminded of one of them abilities from Final Fantasy Tactics. Huh!

That hip swivel is everything in that walk though. It adds the sass and confidence that makes her Juri.

I don't think DelusionTrim's pace would be an issue I have a lot on my plate as well.  I have two jobs and I'm going to college part time.  I won't be finishing my project for a while.

I know the walk animation has the SF4 model for reference, but can you add a fabric ripple to the pants? Like the one SF3 Ryu has during his walk.
Details like that are what made SF3's sprites superior to the animations of SF4's game models.

Wow, these sprites look really well done! I know it takes a lot of time to make these, especially when mimicking SFIII's animation style. She'd look right at home with that game.

So I haven't posted in here for over a year, not to get too much into it but due to irl things that I had to work out it it wasn't until the end of the last semester that I could get back on track. I also haven't been posting much on mfg even after all that stuff because I went to the Discord server and havent really checked here as much as I used to.

So with that out of the way, here is progress so far on the Juri sprites:

Forward walk:


Standing normals (LP, LK, MP, MK, HP respectively):



Special effects (from SFV):



Obviously some cleaning will be needed in those, especially LK store release, the second Pinwheel and Super.

Also to keep up a more steady progress, I've decided to first flatshade all the frames of the animation, then move on to something else and do the same... Idk at what point I'll get to do a complete shade on all the animations, but doing this way feels much faster and less tiring than the way I used to do before which was to complete every frame of an animation first.

I'm thinking of making other basic movement sprites after I finish her SFV standing normals (only standing HK is left so it will likely be soon), then maybe move on to get hits I guess heh :megusta:

The effects were directly taken from footage of the game, then some image tricks were done to make them look like this and it took about 30 minutes to complete each of those.

My god, so gorgeous sprites, I love them :sweetheart: if I were a better coder, I'd totally convert her as a character without a doubt

As a Juri fanboy (and being a Juri user in SFIV) I totally support this project, I wish you the best of lucks with her and take your time (I was absent all 2018, so i understand you)

At least I can help with some palettes, let me make some for you later ;)

You beat me to it Delusion, Those attacks are real smooth.
Well done, now all you have left is all crouching and jumping attacks, also gethits, also AlphaProtos request for insane ripples on the pants.
I get bored quick especially if i dont see the results in my outlines, glad to see you pushing that quality and animation to pro standards.

So a quick bump to say a couple things:

No the project is not dead, the thing is finding time for it when I'm in college and also when I'm practicing digital and improving anatomy skills, among other things, is really tricky...

Second I've decided to only make her SF4 moveset for the sake of simplicity (normals will still be based off of SFV though, only exceptions being proximity normals as they arent in SFV, and maybe one or two other normal attacks here and there). I'm considering making her SFV moveset but only really after completing this sprite set.
