The sprites and the CS look amazing Sean, Davis. Glad to see my favorite hero made by you

He should have a smokescreen super where he fills the screen with gray smoke.  P2 is the only thing seen against the gray background.  Have a smoke guage pop up, like with the Arkham games, slowly depleting while the smoke gets thinner and thinner.

Maybe have some cameos from the rest of the bat-family: Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood, Bat-girl, etc. though that's more wishful thinking.

Much like JM I'd love to see a bit more of the Arkham series in this Batman. For example, using the ground takedown as a follow up to the divekick, or his combo throw, or his stilishy counters attacks. I’d also use the grapple over the batarangs for an AA.

But wouldn't that hurt the player using Batman as much as the opponent?

Maybe the the Knightfall/the grapnel gun move could instead fire at an angle, and if the anchor hits an opponent Batman pulls them down, but if not he proceeds with the rest of the move (ascends quickly, descends with a kick)?

Yeah, I was going to suggest pretty much what JMM suggested. You gotta throw some Arkham series stuff in there. Batman definitely could do with a counter technique. Whether as a special, or it could fill that lv2 gap. I like the idea of a cape swipe AA, though it does feel a bit Demitri-ish...? Don't know much about MKvDC but Injustice was pretty good and could definitely be used as reference. It's been so long since I've played it... Gotta borrow it from my nephew now. Inverted Takedown would be awesome. I think instead of having AA Batarangs, he could have them air accessible as well. Hatorri Hanzo style stuff with chucking them. Perhaps a team up super with Robin or Bat Girl?

Could use Wolvenom as an example when he covers the screen in symbiot slime.  Whenever batman would attack, his outline would appear on screen during the attack, only to disappear when the attack finishes.  Also, it could cause slight stun to the opponent, as if they're coughing from the smoke, at set intevals to interrupt their motion and attacks.

And besides, when doesn't cloaking impede the player as well?  Look at Reptile in MK or The Specialist from SHADEs or Solid Snake from CvTW.

Just my 2 cents, but the Bat-vehicles are overkill. They've been done before and they usually take you out of the gameplay by setting up some elaborate scene.

Personally, I'd hope this Batman would be more "physical" than others where his hypers aren't these drawn out vehicle scenes or scene about his parents or some montage with the Bat-family all having to come in, anything that is a "break" in gameplay. I'd love a Batman who really shows off some great hypers using his fists or a creative gadget.

Also I think a really good way to showcase the Bat-family is through intros and win poses. I think a cool intro could be Robin falling to his knees and fading away while Batman walks up. Another could be Batman walking on-screen and picking up Robin's cape and squeezing it, then tossing the cape off-screen. Intro's and win poses would also be a great way to showcase vehicles without them slowing down the gameplay.

Not if the player using Batman can choose a place in the screen to pop up after the smoke rolls in (kinda like Psylocke's teleport, I guess).

Wouldn't that be a tad too safe? unless there's a lenghty start up between the grapple hitting the roof and Batman going offscreen, but that would do Knightfall pretty much useless on its own...

I for one would love to see a more balanced Batman a la CVS or Injustice. Not some MVC3 style combat character

This is pretty sweet, and hopefully it goes well.  If I may say this, and I may be alone on this, but I'm not feeling his walk.  I would think Batman would walk straight up , not with his head arched forward.

That's a good reason not to use it at all, though!

I dunno that sounds like too much of a downer.

Well, that move of Whip's that Sean compared it to also has a fairly lengthy startup time, but I guess there is a danger in making the move too versatile.

Check out Injustice or even MK vs DC for ideas. Smoke bombs are a must, I'd say.

I own Injustice and have played Batman in it thoroughly, but there was an expectation not to just recreate the Injustice moveset.

This is pretty sweet, and hopefully it goes well.  If I may say this, and I may be alone on this, but I'm not feeling his walk.  I would think Batman would walk straight up , not with his head arched forward.

I find his head being down a bit to be more menacing.

@Snakebyte & JMM

I will incorporate Smoke Bombs. Stay tuned for edited movelist. The cape swipe that's been suggested as an AA sounds weird to me, TBH. I recall one of the other Batmans having basically a Dragon Punch that looked kind of cool because of the cape motion. The AA Batarang makes sense to me because he has it in Injustice and it seems weird for him to not be able to throw them anywhere but straight, but eh.

@suggestions of cameos from other Batman characters

Not really considering this, to be up front. That's a bit more in the sprite department than I'm looking to tackle.

I was imagining the cape thing to be something along the lines of this:

except of course less exaggerated, and with different arm movement. Like just a basic cape swing but angled slightly upward instead of directed straight. The basic idea being to incorporate a cape attack (a staple in Batman fight scenes, and a key component in the Arkham games combat engine) but also have it work as a sort of anti-air, albeit a somewhat limited one; players would not be able to throw it out willy-nilly like a Shoryuken type move, but it would still work as an anti-air, provided it was used right. The lack of a very reliable anti-air would distinguish Batman but he'd be stronger in other areas to make up for it.

I like the idea of being able to throw batarangs in the air but IDK the anti-air batarang just feels to me like overdoing on batarang moves; Batman's got a whole lot of other wonderful toys, after all!

You could probably adapt all three cape attacks as a sort of rekka
http://spritedatabase.net/files/neogeo/847/Sprite/KOF01_OriginalZero.png

Mines could also be a nice way to setup combos, being able to plant a mine or two to then throw the opponent towards them .   would be interesting if you could even plant a mine on the wall .

Smoke bombs sound cool, what would also look cool would be the ability to grapple towards or backwards directly to the walls. It could act as a teleport of sorts, dodging fireballs during the moving part.

I doubt you would want to do a whole mode like it, but using the bat armor from dark knight you could have him turn beefier and armored. Maybe having the armor fly down into him, he delivers a massive punch and then it falls apart would look okay.

Man this is awesome, im glad to see your still doing something with this game! I had given up hope that it will finish cause im a HUGE fan of Cap vs the World, so this is refreshing! I have a question tho, Are you still planning on doing Axel Stone? and do you need money contributed towards him? Id gladly pay just to see him made, anywhoo, Batman rocks! cant wait to play as the dark knight!

Gotta be honest, it just looks like something's wrong with his neck to me.

Batman looks great man. Can't wait to see what you do with him. I hope it's safe to assume you're going to be using Kevin Conroy's voice for him. Roger Craig Smith wasn't bad as Batman either.
