Dont notice a difference on that screenshoot, would be nice to see a gif of the effect to compare.

Were those extra Commando sprites also in the sff?

Not in the .sff, but they are in the supplemental folder located in this zipped file.  I suck balls at aligning sprites and assigning the group/animation numbers so I didn't put them in.
