I think just tuning your expectations for a bit and seeing how the game really is at a high level will def be a better way to judge whether or not the game is for you, because it's def not a KOF or SNK game gameplay wise, which isnt a bad thing depending on how you like those kind of games.

That's really good news. SNK finally innovating instead of relying on KOF's weak mechanics to other games like SVC or NGBC.

I was expecting to be another KOF game with some Guilty Gear air dashing.

So, I still haven't gotten the game yet. Looking through the comments, it seems that the game does not play like an SNK game. Does it still play like a serious fighting game regardless, or is it something like Smash Bros.? And do people still recommend the game to anyone?

it's a mix between your average anime fighting game with how simplified it is and how fast paced it can be and it's really jank ass air combos (which are fun as hell) and smash bros with the inputs and the item stuff. it's a mixed bag of alot of things that isn't typical kof mostly.

i would only reccomend the game if youre a fan of anime fighting games, if you're a fan of traditional kof stuff, this def ain't for you.

Some leak said that the DLC character is a female Skullomania, which I took to mean that the leaker didn't know Akira, but maybe it's an OL dressed up as a skeleton after all.

First 40 seconds talks about Ishizawa or Neo_G (a former Capcom game designer who recently moved to SNK)

I'm actually am hopeful for a proper Neo Geo Battle Coliseum 2 (if ever there are plans for one) and any other SNK fighting games.

Middle part talks about game mechanics and starting at 4:04 talks about pretty much what everyone is discussing here lately.

Interestingly, "Skullolady" was mentioned in Skullomania ending in SFEX3. Maybe it's a new character and not a transformation like Terry Bogard.

Arika are credited in the game despite having no known involvement, and the shadow of the next guest character bears a very strong resemblance to Skullo. Not to mention Terry's appearance in Fighting EX Layer.

The Street Fighter EX series (from which Skullomania originated) was on arcade and on the Sony Playstation. If I'm right about this, it will be the first time ever that a Fighting Layer character will appear on a Nintendo console.
