What is the Extended Download Service?

EA Store - download EA games direct to your PC! EDS means that with the purchase of your digital product, your download will be available for two years from the date of purchase. This is an extension to the complimentary coverage we provide for 6 months with any digital purchase from the EA STORE.
You get the game for 6 months, then it is no longer yours more or less. ::)  I wonder if you're even allowed to have backups... --;

If Valve did that, the counterstrike people will revolt.

You do get to play forever, but you just lose capability for a digital backup, that you don't have to maintain, after six months.

Valve's system rocks.  After you buy the game, you can play it on any computer given that your account isn't already logged in.
