A few people showed interest in how I made some super portraits so I figured I'd stop being a whore about it and share some of my skills in this department.  I'm going to design these tutorials based on it no one has ever made one before, even in the slightest way.  Please excuse the steps that you my already know of.  These tutorials are also being written is if you have Photoshop CS2 and Paint Shop Pro X2.

First off, "POTS"-style.
Keep in mind that I've only ever seen his stuff in motion.  I've never analyzed first hand how he made them.

This tutorial will show you how to create a pseudo-MVC2 super portrait.  I'll be providing a file to use with this one because I believe it works well enough that many people may find it convenient.  Therefore, this will be a rather short tutorial.  If you'd like me to make a more detailed tutorial to make them more accurate to the original game, I can do so.

It works a lot better than most people think.  Others usually go directly to "Screen" or "Overlay" which in this case doesn't work well at all.

I'd also like to encourage users who find these tutorials useful to post their results or post suggestions for other types of portraits that you might like tutorials for.  Super/Hyper or any other types. :)

After Luis Alejandro requested a BBB Super Portrait tutorial, I tried a few things out and came up with a fairly painless way to do it.  I also doubled up the resolution to a 640 pixel height.  I also am providing, yet again, a Photoshop document that is used in this tutorial. This tutorial is made only using Photoshop.  I'll also be cutting menu shots out for the most part and I'll be using keyboard shortcuts.  I got lazy on this one. :P

Stolen from one of POTS' tutorials:
Quote
6- Now it just needs to get some color back, but first of all remove the image from greyscale and convert it to 8bit colors. Never (ever) convert the image to 8bit colors after adding color, because if you do it while the image is still just a bunch of grey shades then there will be zero color loss.
Then to add color just adjust Color Balance.
Additionally, here's the link to the full tutorial to see it in context:

That unfortunately is out of my skill set and would require an incredible amount of time to explain and experiment with.  I've never dabbled in it before, but all they are are large sprites as opposed to manipulated photos.  Sorry I can't help with that. :/

Depends, you using a jpg to do it? The MvC2 portraits didn't go over the colour limit as far as i know so it's possible you're using a jpg rather than a clean png or rip.
