You can play it widescreen but tournament rules ban that screen ratio because it actually changes combos.

No you can't. Love Max has no widescreen mode, it's been scrapped.

There were't any good preorder incentives so that's one of the reasons I waited (Not that I wanted to play full price for a measly update, I was going to wait until the game was discounted but now I'm not getting it at all)

Sad thing is, if this ends up on the ps4 as a downloadable title after the customary year of arcade-onlyness ends, I can see myself buying it simply because PS4 needs more fightans.

And if it's ported to the PS3 in that years time....well...I think ps3 might be dead at that point.
