Spawning a helper then gaining control of it at any time.

Sorry, I didn't really know how to word that.

But here's the problem, I'm trying to create a 2-in-1 kind of character (Ken & Koromaru style) but you can only have control of one at a time. For instance if I start off with PLAYER, then input the switch command, i lose control of the PLAYER but gain control of the helper.

I already have it coded to where it spawns the helper and i have a variable set to the keyctrl as well. But during an actual match, when i do the command, nothing happens and i still have control over the PLAYER.

Is it possible for me to achieve this goal?

S/N: I remember seeing a video of someone creating a Sonic or Shadow the Hedgehog kind of character that implemented the same type of helper control i'm going for. If anyone could link me to it, I'd gladly appreciate it!
