The goal is not to create the "Ultimate Vega", but to create a "decent Vega" that can serve as a base for the creators of mugen experts in Street Fighter.
To that end, I am separating the colors of the Insanius CvS sprites and adding them to the Memo POTS template.
Mainly I am taking as a base the "cvsbalrog" by rei; although I also take references from "'Vega'" by N64Mario, "Balrog" by Felicity, and other chars.

Well, damn, after all these years finally pots vega. Weird that this character is unpopular among mugen community, when he appeared in so many Capcom games.

I have little to no knowledge regarding mugen character coding but I always wondered if it's possible to implement Vega's claw and mask functionality for throws etc. I'm aware that the problem is caused by forcing changestate but on the other hand - why people don't use different palettes for Vega when he loses the mask and claw? (you know, duplicated palette that looks the same but for example with claw pixels changed to transparency, swapped on-the-fly during battle). If this is not possible, any ideas what exactly the engine is missing in order to implement this functionality without conflicting with other chars? Considering Ikemen is open source maybe we could do something about it.

Maybe. The "climbing the cage" sprites are in the Insanius's spritepack.

The problem is that there is no way to know what sprites the opponent uses for the custom states, or how he uses them (modifying the scale, rotating, etc.).

The method of the palette is somewhat complex and I do not know if it could be applied in this case.
For now, my goal is to get a char that works in Mugen 1.0 and does not have serious errors.

the last time I checked rei's CVS2 characters something about them felt off. Not sure if he improved over the years (last edit done in 2015 and I've been testing that Vega back in 2010, I think), but if you decide to use actual CVS2 data, check out Jesuszilla's tool and CVS2 Bible.

I'm aware that you're not aiming for accuracy but I'm posting it just in case you're not aware about these resources.

For now I think of creating two cmd files: one with easy commands, and one with the original charge commands (I'm very bad with the charge characters, so I'll need help to test that file).

It is still too early to think about that, for now I am adding the basic animations.

Does anyone have this sff? It's apparent this guy isn't ever going to finish him, but it looks as though Fausto has you all covered. I know someone has to have it, he actually gave it to me long ago, but I've gotten a new pc since then. If you want this to finally happen that is, help expedite the process.

- MAX Scarlet Mirage is based on the level 2 version of rei's cvsbalrog. I think the Falcon Rapper version does two flips, maybe I can adapt his attack to my version.

- MAX Scarlet Mirage is based on the level 2 version of rei's cvsbalrog. I think the Falcon Rapper version does two flips, maybe I can adapt his attack to my version.
It's typical to make him do 3 attacks opposed to 2 for MAX supers.
In that vast majority of PotS chars including those of the Likes of Jmorphman and Divinewolf, the MAX versions of Supers are based off of the Level 3/MAX variation.
For example: Kyo's Orochinagi (Where he sets himself on fire while the button's held down) or Ken's Shoryureppa (3 Shoryukens opposed to 2 like I said).

I really appreciate the work you did, and I think it's a good idea. However, I can not apply it, for two reasons:

1. "Midnight Bliss Top" uses only 4 colors, there is a color in the template that is not being used.

2. I must apply any change in the template also to the sprite pack, since I plan to launch it as a resource for other authors. That is, I should reindex the almost one thousand sprites that I have now, and it is very tedious.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your interest in this char.

- Add a Level 1 Cage Barcelona Special, if you wanna keep it to "s" I'd suggest making the Level 2 come out if you hold s before the superpause.
- Add more pause-time to the Red Impact finish, and maybe add an echo-ish sound, like what I did here:

However:

1 - I don't plan add a level 1 for the supermoves from the cage.
In SFA3, they were level 3 only, and I would have to add more commands for that too.
2 - I will see what I can do with the Red Impact move, but I don't think I can do much more. In the original games it was a quick move, simpler than "dramatic" xD

Will you add this move too?

I plan add the Splendid Claw move, but it will take time, since I have to edit the sprites.

Maybe I will release some patch for the voice (fourth option in the poll), but it will not be a priority for now.

Ok so,
- Scarlet Terror doesn't need charging.
- His Sky-High and Flying Barcelona moves don't behave correctly on Mugen 1.1 Zoom stages.
- Back Slash should probably have a config to be 3 buttons or 2 becuase you could probably do a throw by accident with it being 2 buttons.
- MAX Scarlet Mirage:
 1. Lacks swing sounds on the last 2 flips.
 2. The delay between the last 2 flips is a bit short compared to the first one.
 3. The last flip could do with a second hit, but not right after its first hit.

CvS2 Claw is the most dangerous Claw the world as ever seen in SF games. If you want to make a decent and crazy good one, make sure you follow the CvS2 one mostly. I have a lot of friends who are pro players in CvS2 who love using Claw, and won tournaments and went to EVO. Many of them say CvS2 Claw is the definitive version. Many also don't like him in SF4.

You should make all of his moves somewhat close to a roll cancel if you want to make him really good. CvS2 Claw is ridiculously good..... watch any CvS2 videos on Claw and he is easily super top tier in CvS2.

Im not a Vega player and whatnot and barely know the char however I would suggest making the ex moves worth spending the bar for.

- Hitboxes are based on rei's Vega, except Bloody High Claw, Remove Claw and Mask, EX versions of Sky-High Claw,  knee hit of EX Flying Barcelona moves. Hitboxes for this moves are based on USFIV.

- EX moves have more damage than the normals, EX Flying Barcelona moves have a knee hit which could be chained in a combo with the rest of the move.

New feedback:
1. I can't seem to Super Cancel into Scarlet Mirage, yet I can cancel into the MAX version just fine.

As an impartial observer, the hitboxes on rei's Vega are at best outdated and at worst and most likely subpar guesswork

I would sugest using N64-Mario's Vega for the hitboxes or at least based on USFIV

This is your fault tbh .6 zoomout is insane.
I use .9 and .8 and i dont have issues like that.

As for the EX moves its up to you. Combo extender is pretty much useless if you cant land it. The extra damage should be given as well tbh.
I suggest defo speeding them up a tad bit.

Adding the CVS2 hitboxes will be a huge benefit for the char as well. good to see you are considering it.

Don't be afraid to buff the char or express your tastes. Look at what jman did to king. She was hot garbage in CVS2 and the Jman made her very fun to use.

I tried using that script, but it didn't work for me. My priority for now is color separation and coding, later maybe I'll check the hitboxes.

Edit: I just downloaded the script again and it seems to work  :yikes:. Maybe I update the hitboxes for the next update.

Good news, you can also get stuff like velocities if you're going that far.

Yes, I am still working on Vega. The CS is over 90%, and I've included Splendid Claw (a lot of frankensprite xD), CvS2 based hitboxes, fixes, etc.

However, due to the quarantine in my country, I am locked up at home with only the internet of my cell phone, so I am not uploading anything for now. Perhaps a new update will be up for the beginning of May.

The supermoves "Flying Barcelona Special" and "Rolling Izuna Drop" will stay as they are now, based on the rei version, since I am not able to perform them in the pcsx2 emulator.

- Added Splendid Claw.
- Added Stardust Drop and Air Crescent Line.
- Added Guard Crush and Throw Escape (stand versions).
- Piece of Mercury and Cosmic Heel done.
- Roll Forwads done.
- New hitboxes based in CvS2 and SFA3.
- Fixes for a lot animations (timings, frames, etc.), based in CvS2 and SFA3.
- Changed some velocities and damage values, based in CvS2.
- Changes in EX Sky-High Claw, based in USFIV.
- Deleted "lock camera" helpers and replaced by ScreenBound, for Flyng Barcelona moves, Sky-High Claw, Bloody High Claw and Splendid Claw (this moves could be look a bit weird in zoom stages, but works).
- Back Slash and Short Back Slash now requires press three buttons (see "Readme.txt" file).
- Fixed charge commands.
- Fixed align of power charge particles and some hitsparks.
- Added "rose petals" to Red Impact, Bloody High Claw and Splendid Claw (taken from Ruby Rose by OHMSBY).
- Replaced some sounds by others of better quality.
- Added AI for basic attacks (based in Jmorphman chars).
- Various fixes.
- Updated "Readme.txt" file.
- Color separation progress: 1385 sprites done from 1474 (93,96% done).

Download spritepack and char for testing in the first post.

Ok, got to test it and I have a couple more splices of feedback:

1. The Rose FX for Red Impact could be bigger, around the size of the Rose in SvC Chaos.
2. Splendid Claw's Slide should be a little slower.
3. I'd suggest a Slide sound like PotS' or Froz's Bison/Vega for C.HK and Splendid Claw.
4. His (Air) Cresent Line and could do with a Slam sound like that of most PotS chars (Jmorphman's Guile is a fair example).

Vega (Claw) was at his best in CvS2. I don't think he has any redeeming qualities in Alpha games. Also, the hitboxes are based on CvS2... where are you getting them from? I hope you're not getting from From Gal/Rei's Vega, because those hitboxes are very incorrect and don't function properly. The proper actual data from CvS2, I can help you get it, but tell me where you are getting the data from.

Today I have finished the color separation for the Vega .sff file. Once I'm done with some fixes, I'll release it, probably in July.

In the meantime, would anyone be interested in doing an AI for this char?
