2 BluRay discs worth of content for Midgar alone for the whole of part 1, because they're diving in its story, so much that it becomes enough for a standalone game. So yeah, as expected since they never showed anything outside Midgar. But that almost certainly means we're getting the honeybee and the disguise, and since they talk about the city's history, we might even get stuff from the other games (Turks and Soldier from CC and BC). Well, Zack wasn't introduced until they got out of town, but since we're seeing Sephiroth PTSD, maybe they can lowkey throw Zack stuff without giving away the schizophrenia plotline. Reshuffling how they introduce certain parts might even take out some dead weight for the second game that'll still need to cover the whole fucking planet by itself. Maybe just rewrite all the schizo PTSD in part 1 and Ancient stuff in part 2, that's a nice thematic split - although you need Nibelheim to clear up the schizo bit. It also slashes the variety of enemy models to recreate and update for the first game. We're also getting motorbike battles right at the beginning long before the great escape, so they're using what they have to add more content (yay more bike chase battles that look good, for extra Advent Children feelings, I don't even know why they made that whole part just for a single sequence and a mini game in the original,maybe they realized it was too awkward to control). (man if they add Advent Children-ish sequences to push up Midgar content, this game's craziness is gonna rocket up all of a sudden, replace the helicopter vs elevator battles by a sword fight falling off a collapsing building any day, AC added enough life to the city to draw inspiration from all of it) Square = standard attack combos but not the meat of the damage (that doesn't stop these combos from being varied and all pretty, just look at Tifa's big impressive skills). Fills up ATB gauge (multiple charges/bars), you can enter tactical mode (time slowdown,look around) for other skills, spells and items that eat a charge. Materia is visible on the weapons. Switch characters with a button. Other characters you don't control keep fighting, but only you can use ATB charges. Configure your command shortcuts.
So that Reddit "leak" wasn't that far off, but half of it was most likely guesswork that wasn't too far-fetched (it did have straight up false stuff, like all of original disc 1 for the first part). I don't really like the orchestra renditions of the couple of themes at the start like the opening theme. Playable demo at their booth so we should see videos flooding in. I'm assuming they won't give more than the first bombing mission, and only in the reactor, not even outside in the city. edit - https://gematsu.com/2019/06/square-enix-uncertain-how-many-games-will-span-the-final-fantasy-vii-remake-project apparently they're still in the planning phase for part 2, so it's not impossible at all that things will change around depending on how much they want to extend the content like they did with Midgar. But the other games have a lot less content outside Midgar to draw from, so that'll probably be all about the weapons and the Ancients and Jenova lore at best, then filling up the rest of the world for Nanaki and Yuffie and so on. And Nibelheim. At least they should only redo the second game once, not twice like they did with CC2.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.
