Wow. The new sprite style for this game is killer. I really love the new Zenith and Vesper. Especialy ZENITH.

I can't wait to see the other designs either.

@Rosh

Damn, two years on and people are still finding stuff. Thanks man, I'll be sure to fix it.

@xaekin

Hmm, keeping the chains and focusing moreon juggles than air combos seems like it would end up feeling like SFxT, and people didn't seem too happy as a whole with the gameplay in that one. I'll be recoding an existing character soon to "SHADEs 3" style to experiment with different suggestions (probably Snow or Sabotage since they already have run sprites for CvTW). I'll release it publicly to get some opinions.

@Errybody else

Thanks for the compliments on the new designs. Looking forward to getting to this project soon. I'm a bit burned out on CvTW, so after I finish my current commissions, I'll probably put that on hiatus and work some on SHADEs 3. I need to work on something of my own to satisfy my  creative urges, if that makes sense.

Sounds good. I think it'll make people happy that there's chains instead of links, but I'm not so keen on the juggle idea myself unless only specific characters can do them via specials. I'm really behind the idea of ditching air combos though for this game after thinking about what other possibilities there could be.

Loving the look of the new sprites, Vesper looks fresh yet still you can tell instantly that it's her.  Zenith?  To me, he looks like how he should look in my minds eye.  The stance is cleaner, and quite frankly, he looks like an utter badass!

I like the idea of a focus on juggling rather than air combos.  Could open up some interesting styles of gameplay. :)

What are you thinking as far as stages go? Are you going to be making your own ones or are you going to be using already made ones?

Haven't really gotten that far yet, but they'll be designed to match the sprite style like SHADE 2's stages. Most likely a bunch or urban/city themed stages like the previous game. Stage locations are kind of limited when you set the game in one city, but I think SHADEs 2's stages turned out okay enough. They were mostly edits using pieces from existing stages, coded by me. I was trying to make them look like existing stages as little as possible, which is difficult without drawing all new stages, which I just wasn't up for/couldn't really do.

Shades 2 stages were great, wouldn't hurt to reuse some or even update them.

Yeah, what you could do is update them a bit. It's like, it would be similar yet not the same.

Maybe even just update them slightly and change the time of day on some of them?  This way you could potentially have a greater number of stages without having to create a ton of new stages.

I dunno, if I just reused the same stages with updates, and I only add two or three new characters, it wouldn't really feel like a sequel to me, more like an expansion of the last one, a Super SHADEs 2 if you will. I think if I'm only going to be able to add a couple of new characters, I'll need everything else to be brand new.

His head looks too small for his body, but looks otherwise great.

Some ideas for castle:
- Make him have super armor for a few hits until he gets into stun and when he gets out of stun he regains the super armor again (Going off the idea in your plans thread for him)
- Make him have low defence as a balance towards the super amour
- Make his move set similar to Heidern & Rolento (Because of his militia based background)

His head does seem a little small for how bulky he looks.

I'll see about making it a bit bigger.

Meanwhile, here's Sabotage's new stance with his new jeans. I know it's a little less unique but now he looks more like a street brawler than a guy wearing an odd tracksuit. The second one is the main player 2 palette.
