And my replacement refurbished PS4.  It's a slim version, too, so it's pretty new.  Okay, so what happened was that my fan was doing the jet engine noise, due to dust (dusty house with no ventilation) getting stuck in the heat sink.  One day last year, I'd say about November/December it overheated and wasn't able to turn back on.  So, I waited a few months, since money was tight at the time for me to take it in.  Finally took in about 2 weeks ago (after finding out deep cleanings only are about 30$ at this gaming place) and the guy finally got to it just this Monday (bit of a long waiting list for cleaning since others needed it as well).

After cleaning it, he discovered the fan would start, then stop, then start again, and repeat.  Turns out, the fan must have been jostled in my possession and got reprogrammed(?) to run at 12rpms instead of 6rpms (I believe is what he said), which it wasn't capable to run higher than 6rpms to begin with and no amount of replacement fans would fix that.  He said the cleaning was free of charge, due to this predicament.  Plus, I didn't want to deal with all the goofy bullshit of trying to fix it so it would work.  So, he gave me a proposition: allow him to buy my system for 60$ and purchase the replacement with the 60$ plus discount (original price of the deep cleaning).  I couldn't say no to that.  It's in-store price was originally about 240$, but with the double discount AND a 25$ off coupon, it got dropped to 140$.  It being tax season and all, I was able to afford this newish system.

Real dumb of me to forget to transfer my data over, but that would have taken a day and a half to do, and I'm sure the shop owners would have been miffed if I had stayed to transfer my stuff over (I work in retail and know how annoying customers can be, so I sympathize).
