Well for one the only similarities between MAX Mode and HD Mode are that you can cancel into them and they are used to cancel uncancelable normals and specials into other specials.
However, HD Mode can only take place thanks to the drive gauge, which allows people to do cancels without sacrificing meter. HSDMs required you to have low life and were useless for the most part, but Neomaxes were not, and they demanded you to have a full Drive gauge while HSDMs required you to be in Max Mode absolutely IIRC.

We ain't gotta explain shit, you clearly messed up by mentioning KOF in trying to display monotony in sequels.
Can we just stop this "B-BUT SAME OLD SAME OLD" bullshit and go back to discussing the potential things to come for this game? Jeez.

This goes for all of you.

All right, I'll give Pokémon changes from Gen 1 to Gen 2 on remembering how horrible Gen 1 is compared to later.

But that's it.
Really now? Only gen 2 made significant changes?

Gen 3 introduced the weather effects to battles, which changed the game quite a bit. As well as double battles.

Gen 4 made the Special/Physical split to the attacks, so what stat they got their power based off of no longer was restricted to what type the move was.

And Gen 5 introduced TMs having infinite uses. Triple Battles, and Rotation battles.

And, Gen 6 will have Sky Battles. And Mega Evolutions.

...Also, nice job ignoring C.A.N's points.

How are the killstreak changes more important than the changes KOF made over the years? You're being too simplistic. KOF was even a 5 button game once.

Physics and velocities were changed a lot starting with KOF 03, the serie is a different beast starting with XII (As in it feels really different, you can't just jump from 2002 or XI to XIII without getting used to the physic/velocity and input buffering changes). In fact many of the changes you mentioned were core changes that brought a lot of new stuff/combos into the game.

If anything KOF is one of the few fighting games where you can play previous versions because they're still different enough from others instead of a mere update, like how you would play the last SFII/SFIV/Blazblue CS/Melty Blood game because they turn the previous ones obsolete. KOF is definitely not an example you would use for such argument.

I don't think Inafune would start a kickstarter if he wasn't completely sure about what he's doing, he brought a lot of people to work with him after all, this is definitely not a small step to take. I'm sure he'll deliver an interesting game, similar enough to the old games we like while adding new stuff to it (This is why he's working with people from all age and experience ranges after all, it's a pretty smart move). We'll just have to wait and see what's going to happen since we only know about transformations and whatnot so far.

No, don't you guys see? All video games are the exact same thing! You press a button and then something happens; what a fucking ripoff that 99.9% of games have that feature. What if I want to push a button and nothing happens instead? Step your game up video game devs!

Anyway back on topic:
Normally I'd go for the digital reward tier for the game, manual, and soundtrack, but Fangamer is handling the distribution of the physical rewards so I'm torn between splurging my cash for one of the physical reward tiers now. :(

I'm a bit on the fence.

One side of me is happy. Mega Man classic charm with X storyline and what sounds like Zero gameplay, oh yeah also the revival of an almost dead franchise by its original creator without executive meddling.

On the other hand, "Mega Man under a new coat of paint" is what this looks like. I'm going to give it the benefit of doubt since we haven't seen shit (read: gameplay) yet but I sure hope this doesn't end up as just another Mega Man clone. After all we've only seen concept art and this might look different.

Also, PC action platformer fuck yes we need more of those.

There we go. This is what I wanted.
I take back Pokémon off that list.

KOF was a five button game twice actually(Neowave and XI)

  • SNK is life
893K of the 900K ... this is happening guys.

Just saw the video of Inafune explaining the concept. It just makes me want to throw money at this so bad.

Also 896K/15K supporters = around $58 in average per backer. People really want this to happen.

So why is this thread filled with bitching about KoF and Pokemon?
