I've decided every char will have at least 9 different palette colors.

Here's a screen of Lakers Gambit vs Bulls Gambit and the palettes were made by me:

cool palettes, looking forward for the final result, this is looking very interesting, also like pexxer say, use renders to make the portraits, you will see that is gonna look better, good luck.

Version .33 released.

New things in this release:

New intro
All portraits are "finished" - will be returning before 1.0 release to put a black stroke around them so they have a shadow instead of the white outline.
New gohan from hyper dbz Christmas release: much respects and thanks to Balthazar & Cybaster.
New options screen and some changes to the main menu - will be doing more changes to main menu before version 1.0
All chars have at least 9 palettes: more than a handful made by me but most made by original creators.
All A.I. is aggressive.
Kyo and Sean are still broken and will be either worked on or in the case of kyo replaced.


So yeah, small changes but I wanted to upload this because I will be getting into a.i. now and I want a backup incase I break any of the chars.

You will notice two chars are missing and these are hibiki takane and Ironman Z. I took them out of this update because their a.i. are done with some lines of japanese coding and I couldn't compress them.

I noticed pots Ryu has some insane recovery frames that I will have to edit because for example, he's safe on sweep and that makes 0 sense.

I have no idea of the nakoruru match up and that's why I lost that one, karin kept me honest as well.

I went into the mugen.cfg and put it so the a.i. picked random pals to showcase the amount of palettes now available.

I played on medium 4 because pots ryu is a pain right now.

There's still a lot to work on and I plan on doing it in this order:



Give anyone who doesn't have a parry a parry.

Fix A.i. so that it responds to being set on easy, medium and hard on everyone.

Balance testing to make sure I can beat everyone on hard 8.

balance testing to make sure the computer can have entertaining matches against itself on hard 8 with the entire cast.

balance testing to make sure easy is infact easy, medium is fact medium and hard is in fact hard according to my standards.

Input the story mode intro and outro for everyone.

Fix powerbars so that for example; Kens is not doubled up and looks funny.

Fix powerbars to get that one pixel fixed so I'll be changing the range on that.

And finally going back and shading all of the portraits/changing the main menu to look more like my own vision.

Thanks for the support and help and keep an eye out on development help because I think that's going to be my home away from home for the next year or so.

Do not make your life harder just using these badly cut pictures, get renders if you want add stroke to them it will look much better if you want I can help you just tell me the size and I will make a couple for you to test. I will show you what I mean give me 3 mins.

600x800 will strech her and It will look bad.

ok so that looks really good but if I can't stretch to put them at a certain height then how the f will I make it so that all of the portraits are the same size?

use one size for all the ports. :D
I don't know how your screenpack works, but  use ONE size for p1 positions and ONE size for p2 positions.
That  should do fine. If you have to resize do not strech make the ports bigger  or smaller but do not strech.

what I mean is make all of your BIG vs ports one size which suits your screenpack the best.
here's some clean cut renders.No white behind them no black just the picture itself no deleting a background in photoshop just resize it as you see fit for your screenpack and slap it in there.

that's cool and I appreciate the help. I will be using some of those :)

But it's not that easy(I wish it was)

Take for example this ryu:

Perfect render right?

But it's a jpg and will only let me save in jpg.

The problem is fighter factory 3 only takes png or bmp files.

I have to download the jpg and re-save it as one of those files and the transparency is lost in the process.

I've been using gimp to make the transparency return and that's why you have the white outlines.

I don't have photoshop.

I will get back to portraits at a later date and I truly appreciate your help.

If there's something I'm doing wrong with the portraits and for example I can use that ryu render than please let me know but I think that's the issue here

It was tough because I had no idea what I was doing but now that I do the rest of the cast just got easier!
