apparently, guest (Ryu Hayabusa, Namea, Sophitia, Joanna D'arc...) characters from 3 and ultimate wont be in this new game.

Hope is good, i really like WO games.

Damn, was hoping for some more Ryu....at least it will be a pure warriors experience and they don't have to worry about 3rd parties...but this is Koei Tecmo. I am pleasantly surprised that they're making it for the switch, must have missed something.

Too bad about the other Warriors spinoff (I was hoping to see Achilles again), but the Olympus pantheon joins in ?
Zeus just comes in and creates new chaos, and the heroes will gather to try and understand why he's doing that. It shows "one of the worlds that Zeus creates" with dragons carved on pillars. The giant anchors are what connect the world with Zeus' power (so that justifies not going with the "giant open world" that the latest games have been going for). Zeus is coming from a "world of the gods", it namedrops the Parthenon and there's an image with a Torii (Japanese shrine gate), and another shot with anchors in a place with grass, trees and mountains, so there's probably multiple sections of the world of gods and also gods from multiple pantheons. We already have Amaterasu and Orochi, a bunch of gods from China, now Zeus, so we might get some Norse gods (forest and mountain area) and stuff too ?
... I just realized reading this that the kanjis they're using for Orochi is absolutely not the usual ones. The hell ? It's written as... distant spine wisdom ? Instead of the normal giant motherfucking snake.
So previously the Chinese gods just went around Ancient China and the Sengoku era picking up strong people to fill this land, and that world created by Demon King Distant Spine Wisdom just remained there as a parallel world after everything ended, and now Zeus is coming to that world.
There's a new ability called divine action that heroes can now do, a mysterious power that doesn't come from their weapon but from some divine armament granting them a divine art (shots of Yukimura blasting a big fire magic, Zhao Yun with some ice wind stuff using a sword...)

He was never written as giant fucking snake in Kanji iirc. It was always supposed to be "Look at this snake god guy whos called Orochi but is not THE Orochi".In fact, the western localization is the only one that outright names him the Serpent King or whatever,he's just Demon King or god or whatever in the eastern version. This was supposed to hint at the fact that he was originally someone else (Which turned out to be Yinglong,which I found dissapointing cause I had no clue who Yinglong is).

Nemea is already replaced by Han Dang but it sucks they kicked out the others.
Apparently they did it cause they want a "clean slate" and to re-establish new relationships between existing characters like they did in WO1.

They don't look shiny enough like they did in Strikeforce so i doubt they're power up models but I guess they could be WO4 only costumes

I'm just glad we're getting another WO game on PC since WO3 is the only WO to skip the PC market (Granted WO1 and 2 PC never left japan but whatever theres a fan translation)

Edit: Apparently the story mode is called Deification mode

Also the guy behind Suikoden is supervising the story. I never played Suikoden games but I heard they're good so uhhhh hype i guess

Oh, yeah, I mean I never paid attention to that in the previous games, never saw the kanji version, that's why I'm only realizing it now. I'm only comparing it to the actual myth.

I absolutely loved 1 and 2 and Suikogaiden 1 & 2, they're still somewhere in my list of best games of all times (well, the two Gaidens are "just" visual novels), but I never played any of the other ones, the characters and designs didn't have any appeal in my eyes but I loved the characters from 1 and 2 (and the story, yes, and the gameplay, and everything else). That doesn't specifically build my hype for it because I was fine with WO's story so far and I don't particularly know what to expect from him these days in WO's setting, but that's certainly not turning me off.

What a weird as hell place for Astro Boy to show up in. Evidently, I'm out of touch as to what sort of connection the God of Manga has to some indie titles made some half a century later, but it just comes across to me as a jab at Mighty No. 9's fall from grace.

Yea kind of a shame All-Stars got dropped like a sack of bricks, it had something going creativity wise.

With Zeus being a key figure that should mean the Troy characters would have a shot no? Especially since unlike say Bladestorm it is technically part of the same franchise as Dynasty and Samurai.

You'd think so, but apparently there's 165 returning characters and 5 brand new, we've already seen that big image of the 165 returning characters and he's not in it (but the villain Diamondback is). The 5 new ones start with Zeus, but it's unlikely that Achilles is in it. Compared to the story we've seen for Orochi and Tamamo no Mae, I'd expect one new big bad and a support bad guy. Achilles really should be the best guess (if they redid his ground super from scratch because god damn it was lame) for one of the remaining two spots, but I'm expecting them to give more Greek gods like, oh, say, Athena and Ares or Hermes, the same way they went full force on the multiple Chinese gods out of nowhere last time. The way I see it, the only chance Achilles has is to take that spot of support bad guy but in a transformed / corrupted / full berserk version taking the opportunity to revamp his design a bit (but still supposed to be the same Achilles), enough to not count as a "returning character".

Well, this game will probably be a core one, WO1 and WO3 has expansions. (our WO2 in Japan is actually a expansion of the first game, reason of the miss numbering).

Warriors Orochi 1 (2 and Z)
Warriors Orochi 3 (Hyper and Ultimate)
and if you look at warriors franchise, its a common thing (Xtreme Legends, Empires....).

So i believe this one wont be diferent, since Spirit of Sanada and DW9 characters will not present in this game. Lets hope for a future version with Guests returning (except Sophitia owned by namco, would be cool to have her again but licences are not cheap).

As for the Deification, i read somewhere this will be a Story Mode related thing.

A Chinese dragon deity, one of the great emperors of it's mythology, along with NuWa and FuXi.
They are pretty much on top of their ranks of Chinese mythology. Those who created heaven and earth etc.

Yeah Ryu had great chemistry with Kyomori's story, really liked that part.
