Gotta give the guy props for acknowledging some people won't like the genderswap and saying it's okay if they don't

Too bad it's not good enough for current year:

Yeah, hopefully this will get it more exposure for the better cause it seems like this show will get things right while at the same time keeping the feel that made the series awesome to watch. I don't mind that Shun got changed into a girl, as long as the show stays true to what it was story and action wise.

TBF I personally think Hyoga was the one who would have made the most sense to genderswap with this reasoning (Shiryu would be fine but going topless 80% of the time would have been a slight issue). But at the same time, there's still no way Shun could have remained as mindnumbingly cliché as he was in the anime (the manga was passable on that regard) because he needs to have something to do beside crying for help. The pacifist approach was fine but done way too heavy-handed, so he had to change a bit, and it would have angered those who identified with him for that specific reason regardless.

Gender swaping the gold saints would be a big fuck you to japan, since those are big amongst the female fandom.

Legend of Sanctuary already did it with Milo, who is the number 1 fujoshi subject.

  • Foolish, but learning.

From KOF: A New Beginning, the/an official KOF 14 manga.  Yuri taking one of Tung Fu Rue's tricks.  If a whole bunch of Yuris show up with something like this in the future, now you know why.

The art style screams so, but no name, no proof.

Cardinal Rule of manga - every manga artist has made hentai unless proven otherwise.

Here's a friendly reminder that if your not watching Thunderbolt Fantasy, you're missing out on a visual masterpiece. Add some more puppet on puppet violence in your life; you won't regret it. (Yes it's anime, don't question it).

So, the rise of brett kavanaugh already pre-aired, and it's pretty good; I was not expecting  a double feature so it was a nice surprise and the episode ends with the introductio of raphtalia.

[EDIT]

Just read the reviews and forum at ann, hilarious.

What's it like as an adaptation though? I asked a couple people about it and they were mad about the rape accusation thing but it didn't really answer my question.

it's pretty well done; duno if it will adapt the webnovel, the lightnovel or the manga; not that it matters too much since it will only cover the arcs that are mostly tthe same. Inoticed it has a scene the magna skipped, but the apparance of glass in the intro points to the manga being adapted; so a enw version I hope.

I think the best anime is Overload and best manga is Dead Tube.

Catching up on new season:
Mob Psycho 100 season 2 is off to a strong start. Never expected them to dig so seriously in to Mob's characterization early on; the show did a good job of developing him as a character in such a short amount of time. It looks like Bones is having a grand time with the visuals this time too; most of the episodes have looked fantastic with episode 5 being the icing on the cake. I hope they didn't blow their load early on that one because that would be a shame.

Rising of the Shield Hero -  I thought the initial premise was an interesting way to start off the series to set it apart from other isekai shows, but it looks they might not keep the falsely vilified thread from going much longer. Shield Hero is moderately entertaining though it hasn't yet been memorable for me. It's going to be a two cour so they plenty of time for the show to develop so I'll keep watching it anyway.

Kaguya Love is War - entertaining romcom even though the punchlines seem a bit predictable.

The Promised Neverland -  A very strong thriller so far. Definitely one the stronger series this season.

Magical Girl Spec Ops Asuka - somewhat decent dark magical girl show. I appreciate that the story takes place after they stop the big alien teddy bear apocalypse and now to deal humans being terrible again when the dust settles. Does a much better job of portraying someone dealing with ptsd than it has any right to and is very violent.

Virtual-san Looking - This is such a bizarrely awful project that I just can't stop watching. Most of the skits fall flat, the camera work can sometimes be nauseating and they're probably too many characters. None of them are particularly  good comedians either. It feels they stitched together a bunch of youtube videos to make an episode and given the origins of all these characters, it's quite fitting. I guess there a slightly diy feel that makes the show somewhat charming. Also no Kaguya Luna? Why!

I read the original webnovel back when the manga had like 5 chapters out; it's pretty nice, some arcs are really good but other arcs are pretty bad , I hope the studio skips or fixes the worse arcs while keeping the good one faithful. the thing is the webnovel, manga and light novel are all different routes so the anime should as well be one. As long as they keep raphtalia performing morrigan's nocturnal illusion for the third season of the anime i'll be happy.

The biggest problem this series has is bad/flat villains, then the weird varitaion of quality in arcs.

Like, the only other isekai novel/manga that I like more than shield hero is mushoku tensei because it's lowest point is the magical academy arc, but unlike shield hero there's a lot of gray areas for villains to the effect that in some viewpoints the mc can be said to be a villain , or pretty much any charatcer, really, not only because of their actions, but because of their consequences, while shileld hero falls flat on it's face regarding that.

As a side note I was not expecting it to be so hated by some black anime watchers, I just hope it's the same ones that hated cross ange for a similar reason (slavery/discrimination themes).

I still follow the manga but I definitely won't be checking out the anime, because I've just grown sick of "torture porn" stuff where a series just keeps treating its characters like shit and dragging them through the deepest sewers it can find just to get a rise out of the viewer/reader. The manga is doing okay currently but there's no way I'm going through the whole first arc again up to the Church arc (because I'm also sick of the Medieval Europe styled all-controlling evil Church trope). It just doesn't get me hard to watch / read something just for the fun of getting angry at made up injustice that's specifically designed for it.

As a webnovel reader I have been having a lot of fun spoiling raphtalia's death in facebook, especially because there are a lot of manga/novel readers that spoil anime viewers on future plot points, but neither the manga not the light novel have made it to raphtalia's death arc yet.
