Do you think it's OK to use github for host characters?
since most chars are open source. but the sprites may not :)

I would very much welcome a new age of authors hosting their creations on public repos.

...but in a day in age where just about every freeware or open source software developer has taken to using github, I'd imagine there's a reason as to why the Mugen community hasn't done that yet.  Hopefully someone in the know could shed some light on this subject.

I believe the problem is most character's sprites was RIP from commercial game.
If it's pure original I don't see any problem.

I have plans for a full game which upon public release will have its source code available on Github.
Hopefully someday I'll be able to make the little puffball on my profile pic.

I have my character on a private repo at the moment in development, it makes a lot of sense for backing up and tracking changes pre or post-release once you get over the learning process with command-line Git.

People making hi-res or HD characters might have to look into alternate solutions to hosting their SFF files if they get so large Github starts to complain (100MB is the limit, a particularly silly SND file could manage this too)
