I figured I'd take a shot in the dark and ask for help here because I've already posted in the Main X68000 emulator forum for help, but it's beginning to look as if everyone else has just about as much of a clue as me. In fact, someone else made a post asking for help with the same issue I'm having in that same forum in 2012. It's still unanswered.

I'm going to be as thorough as possible in explaining my issue. I came across a video of this game the other that looked similar to Mugen that caught my interest, I learned that it wasn't KFX, this one was called SFXVI. It's another customizable fighting game engine that was released in 1997 and created by "T. Soeno". This page gave me more info and a download of the base game. The download provided on that page gives you an .hdf file which can be run in X68000 emulators. The only issue I'm having is finding a way to somehow modify that file and add more characters, stages, and music to the engine. I cannot any relevant information in English of how to set up, modify, and run SFXVI properly within any X68000 emulator.

Here are some links pertaining to the engine.

Pipitan's Page with another version of the game dl

I'm hoping someone here has heard of SFXVI before and can lend me a hand. Thanks for taking the time to read my request for help.

Yeah, might as well. I'll start from the beginning just in case people are curious to try it out themselves.

Part 1
A) First you need the actual base game which is available for download on this page; http://old.sailorvgame.org/mg/x68000/sfxvi.htm

B) The emulator and instructions on how to properly set it up with games are available on this page; http://old.sailorvgame.org/mg/x68000/

C) Disk Explorer is needed and is available for download here; http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA013937/editdisk/index_e.html

D) The characters and stages are available here; http://nfggames.com/X68000/Mirrors/x68pub/x68data/GAME/SFXVI/

Part 2
A) Get the emulator up and running and make sure the game works fine.

B) Run DiskExplorer, and choose to open the game with it. Go inside the SFXVI directory of the game and export the SFXVI.LST file to where you desire.

C) Open up the exported SFXVI.LST file with Notepad and enter the name(folder name) of the characters and stages(you need to extract the contents into a folder from the .lzh or .zip) you wish to add. Only 10 Characters fit under each "%STORY #" line and must be paired with a stage.

D) Save the file and go back into DiskExplorer. Overwrite the SFXVI.LST within the root directory with the modified SFXVI.LST you just saved. This is essentially the game's "select.def"

F) Go into CHAR and/or STAGE directories then drag and drop the character and stage folders into them according. When you're done close out DiskExplorer.

G) Run the game and you should now be able to see the characters and stages you added.
