I just posted this in Basara's WIP Thread:And it got me thinking... Why not post some of the best (Funny helps!!) gaming ads you remember from back in the day here?? I think it'll be a lot of fun especially for those of us who grew up with awesome gaming goodness from the amazing and still amazing Playstation/Saturn/N64 era. Hell, post whatever you think is interesting!!
Well, not funny, but this always stood out for an advertisement. As for something funnier, well there's the Kirby comic from Club Nintendo.

That Halo Advertisement is ace. One of my top favorites. I also love raw scans of art like that. Very cool stuff.
Whoa!! Is that the official ad that Nintendo produced?? If so, that's very good. Speaking of Nintendo....I always loved this Metroid Prime Commercial. I especially like the seamless integration of the footage that was shot that leads into the gameplay. And that fucking costume.... So goddamned awesome!!Lastly, this is one of my all time faves too:I love the way this is shot. It's amazing in my opinion. It seems very familiar to the ODST commercial. Perhaps it's the same director?? I know for a fact the same production company did this and ODST.@Hoshi: I remember that as if it were yesterday. Epic find my man.

The game was rather mediocre, but I keep remembering that song every now and then, so that has to count for something. Thanks again, Adult Swim.
There's also the PC Engine ad which I like due to the arrangement of the ending song that plays during it. Spoiler: And of course the comic book ads (click to see content)
Soooooo epic Roman!! I find it funny how they changed the color of the mask from red to white. And you gotta love the red hockey mask... with a 2x4!!And I totally did not see that song reference coming LJK. I was wondering why it was titled Oh no you didn't. LOL
TMNTgirl said, October 05, 2013, 07:18:13 pmI remember this was aired in Holland.LOL @ bananaen. And that anime style is ridiculously good from the Japanese commercial. The next Mario Kart should feature that style and that style alone!! With a Dutch Voiceover option, of course. I'd use bananaen all of the time. Lastly, I completely forgot about that Bushido Blade Commercial. That game is still ridiculously good to this day. Hell, even the graphics hold up very well.
Can't help but wonder if there's a flower field stage with So Happy Together playing for its soundtrack somewhere in the Brawl mod community now...
Don LaFontaine!! Awesome!!LOL someone should do a SSB mod where the in-game models look like the people in costume in this commercial. Fantastic find!!This one here is a classic in my opinion. Not only did I play Twisted Metal 2 to death (That and Black are the best two IMO), but I loved the commercial. That Smash Brothers commercial and the URNOTE slogan bring back a lot of great memories from the N64 and PlayStation One days.
The actor kinda sounds like Jack Nicholson a bit there. I forgot about that ad. Very cool. This one here is one of my all time favorites. Come to think of it, my Desktop at home has about 3 gigs worth of gaming commercials; a lot of them you guys are sharing here and reminding me of. That's how awesome our tastes are!!Ah DreamCast, you were fucking amazing. You're up there in my favorites. Also, this is a slightly longer cut of this amazing commercial by about 20 seconds.Germanbaraka667 said, October 05, 2013, 08:45:35 pmDid you play TW on the PS3 yet? Its pretty awesomeI haven't gotten around to it. I need a PS3 first, which should happen within the next few months. I also have a list of stuff I want, and TM is on that list. How are the helicopters and whatnot??
Saikoro said, October 05, 2013, 07:44:24 pmLastly, I completely forgot about that Bushido Blade Commercial. That game is still ridiculously good to this day. Hell, even the graphics hold up very well.Indeed. I prefer the gameplay of second game, I just wish you could disable legs like you could in the first one. Environment and atmosphere was better in the first game. Love that beach stage. I still own them both. Even have the "strategy guides" for both. Beat the survival modes on both too. Saikoro said, October 05, 2013, 08:42:22 pmDon LaFontaine!! Awesome!!I'll see your LaFontaine and raise you Paul Rudd and Tony Jay.
There's also this ad for Ty the Tasmanian Tiger that's stuck with me. Mostly because they made the pretty ballsy claim that Ty was going to become the number one 'too-cool' video game mascot and blow big names like Sonic or Spyro away, and then went on to become an utterly forgettable franchise.

I remember owning Bush Rescue (I think). My copy later stopped working though.
ERRDOR 6.7 said, October 06, 2013, 03:15:52 amThe nature of living in Dinosaur Land.Wow!! The GBA is only 110!! I gotta get one. LOL That commercial makes Super Mario World seem like a Jamacian/Carribean resort. I love those Mario and Luigi costumes too. They were featured in that Smash Brothers commercial above.Tamez said, October 06, 2013, 03:04:44 amI'll see your LaFontaine and raise you Paul Rudd and Tony Jay. WHAAA!? That's crazy to see Rudd so freakin young!! I wonder if Nintendo gave him a SNES since he did the ad. AWESOME!!Person Man said, October 06, 2013, 03:11:42 amThere's also this ad for Ty the Tasmanian Tiger that's stuck with me. I also like how they couldn't show actual likenesses of each gaming character. Their advertisement department did some clever placement there, that's for sure.
One thing I've always found interesting was how many ads there were for Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Spoiler: Four at least that I remember (click to see content)
Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyI miss stupid little ads like this.Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyEven though it doesn't show any gameplay whatsoever, this one's pretty fucking cool animation-wise.

Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyThis one kinda shocked me as a kid, mainly because of how hard Snuggle Bear's shit got wrecked.Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyEven with Six-Million Dollar Man-esque bionics, bear is still no match for tank.

Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyDidn't know the ad execs back then were into that kinda thing. Also, be glad that I posted the marginally less gross SMW2 spot.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyWent looking for a PS2 spot involving an indestructible deer and ended up finding this.
