What would be the Best KOF game for PS2

Laugh it up

I Recently picked back up my Ps2 again and I wanted to play a real KOF game (since I never have lol

) and what would be a good game....decent amout of chars, good control and graphics?

Currently 98UM but probably 2k2UM when it comes out on Feb. 29, 2009.

SNK is life

Go play KOF MI2, should keep you entertained for a while. Extensive story mode, characters personalities are well shown on this, it's stupid button mashing fun

I liked it more than KOF 2K2.

MI2 was not that bad actually.
The mini/extra/somethinglikeit games was fun. Some of them is hard though.
Lots of chars, extra costumes and a lot of extra palettes.

thanks for all the suggestions Ill def check them out I only ever played one snk game and it was a fatal fury game and I have know idea which one it was...thanks again I'll check them out

No guts No glory..

best kof game for ps2 should be kof 98 ultimate match.....cause it does have a nice rooster of chars that i like to play,is all about combos and most of the elements the kof series has to offer are in it,i would prefer this one to be made in HI RES some day....the drawing and proportions in KOFXII is really weird(shading is good)

I also prefer 98UM to XI, but XI it's in a second place (Only because it lacks Krauser)

Chances are that, 2K2UM will be superior to those (It won't have USA team, Eiji, nor '96 boss team though

)

best games are 97 98 2000 2k1 2k2 98um...
in fact almost all of them...pr-e98 can be replaced by 98um unless you are interested in discovering the stories

Eh, but most of them are not available on the PS2 (well, there is the Orochi saga and NESTS saga compilations, but the games in those compilations are emulated anyway

) so it would be a waste to get them instead of PS2 exclusive KoF's.

Heck, let's categorize :

Non-PS2 (play emulated) : KoF 2000.
PS2 : KoF 98 UM and XI. (KoF 2k2UM when it's released)

98 UM should take care of Orochi saga, KoF 2000 is one of the best KoF's and a great introduction to the NESTS saga and KoF XI has overall appeal (oh and that ash saga thingy)

still there are some quite interesting extras here and there, like additional modes, also kof2k has more maniac strikers(orochi for example...)...but ugh for 3d stages, they were quite nice in 2k3 though
