Hi there people!, this time I'm comming with a new edit, and the turn went to SonSon (make sure to give thanks to ExShadow since he suggests who to fix XD). You may wonder... why Kong and Ryou Win are credited together? Well... it's a funny story indeed. All started when I forgot that Kong made a SonSon, so I started with Ryou Win's (a WHOLE MESS), then, I remembered that Kong made almost avery character in MvC2, and actually found his version, which saved me time because I didn't have to redo ALL the animation data, just fix some stuff in there.

In the other part, I still used some of Ryou Win stuff (just a bit of code), that's why he is still credited here... I know, confusing... but I feel more confortable this way.

This time, SonSon has more changes, I tried to match MvC2 animation handling as closer as posible, I know she is not 100% accurate, but I guess shes is at least playable. I've dopped default cornerpush handling from MUGEN, and now I'm using Van's code (with some mods to try to match MvC2), some weird behaviours with my current combo system happily forced me to change into this. Also, I included a custom AI, she's not a beast, but I guess she will be a worthy opponent, I tried to do this AI as closer to a human player as possible, so no impossible moves or weird stuff, everything she can do, you can do it as well.
Just for the record... it's the first time I fix a character that does such an extensive use of Angledraw (specially, in En'ou, in which you need that to show the first 2 frames correctly... O_o)

As always, she has some mods (lil' insignificant ones), but as I said, I tried to get her as close to MvC2 as I possibly can... Well... enough blah blah...

UPDATE!!


I fixed the following issues in both Spidey and SonSon:
  • Final fix for "AI taking over my butt" bug, Training mode detection (by WinAne) was added again for both chars and now works for both WinMUGEN and MUGEN 1.0 engines
  • Added width controller for both throws for SonSon, tested against KFM and herself.

For those who knows coding and don't want to redownload only for that, just find this piece of code in Statedef -2:

and remove it, this only aplies for WinMUGEN though... surprisingly strange, it doesn't affect MUGEN 1.0... but it's reccomended to remove that if you either want to be sure or experience bugs on MUGEN 1.0.



She has all explods from MvC2, sounds and her full move set.


MoveList:

Air Dash: FF or X+Y in air
Backwards Air Dash: BB or hold back and X+Y in air
Grabs: In air or land close to enemy and then press fwd + Y or B (in air only Y)

Normals:
4 button char
  • X = light punch
  • Y = Hard Punch
  • A = light kick
  • B = hard kick

Supers:
Seiten Rengeki: DP + X or Y (also can be done on air) (SC!)
Kingin no Hisago: QCB + X or Y
Shienbu: QCF + X or Y (also can be done on air) (SC!)
Hofuku Zenshin: HCF + A or B (can evade proyectiles, can be cancelled into any ground move)
Wall Walk: QCB + A or B
Wall Walk Kick: Press A or B while not in ground
Wall Walk Release: Press X or Y while not in ground
Fuusetsu San: Press X or Y repeatedly (also can be done on air) (SC!)

Hypers:
Tenchi Tsuukan: QCF + XY (can be done on air)
En'ou: QCB + XY
En'ou - Low Punch: Press X during En'ou
En'ou - High Punch: Press Y during EnĂ³u
En'ou - Fire Breath: Press A or B during En'ou, Press Up or down to aim the fire, hold down attack buttons to last longer.
POW: QCF + AB

Stand alone Alpha Counters: B, DB, D + X, Y, A or B
With X or Y: Seiten Rengeki
With A or B: Kingin no Hisago

*Anotations:
  • QCF = Quarter Circle Forward
  • HCF = Half Circle Forward
  • QCB = Quarter Circle Back
  • HCB = Half Circle Back
  • DP = Dragon Punch motion
  • SC! = The move can be super cancelled

Note that SonSon is keyboard friendly, so enjoy keyboard users!

This is awesome. She plays so great. I only found one minor issue but it's more of an aesthetic thing.



Her dust FX seems to be cropped. I think that's the only one, couldn't find cropped FX anywhere else.

FINALLY WE HAVE AN AWESOME SONSON. :sugoi:

What this character needs is a readme. The .mcf (aka the .cmd, though I've never seen that extension) is a mess, and there are some moves that do nothing at all. So I'm kind of lost at what she can and she can't do.

Didn't happen to me, though maybe it's because I still didn't manage to trigger it. The only way to solve this is to create an AI patch. If someone does it for MUGEN 1.0, AI will never take control for sure.

Looks like the AI is only taking over on winmugen, since I tested on both just to check.
But other then that, really nice edit. :)

That goddam FX... unfortunately, whenever I tried to re-rip it, I get it worse, so that's the best I can get for it :( (thanks to REDHOT)... but, since it's mvc2, i refuse to use cvs replacementts...

I soppose you use Winmugen, don't you? maybe the Training mode detection is doing weird stuff in there... it's quite strange that happens, I'm using Winane's AI Activation method (suppresing the simplifying var, just using 2 var method) and I can actually control her... I?ll test on winmugen ASAP and try to fix the issue... I hope Spidey don't have the same prob...

For people having probs with the mcf fle (MCF = Mugen Command File, I changed the CMD extention in order to avoid confusion with CMD windows files) look for the varsets (var(0)) which have the commands for her moves, the changestates use the var value, so they are useless to know the commands ;) the organization goes as follow:
- Command Varset (set var(0) to X if command blah blah...) various sets by move name.
- Changestates using the var value
And over this, they are organized by category: Hyper moves, super moves and normals... in the very beggining of the statedef -1 you'll find AI safe triggers and basic command varset.
