Capcom's not exactly in a good position right now. They needed funding from Sony just to get SFV and look how that turned out.

I don't think we'll see another Marvel vs. Capcom game for quite a while.

Not to mention Capcom's license to Marvel characters was purchased in 2008, before Disney bought them out, so I imagine it would be a LOT harder in multiple ways to make a new MvC game.

well, X-men and Fantastic four are in that mobile game, and marvel online, so maybe they'd be all right with it.

Although I'd hate to think of the oversaturation of guardians of the galaxy and Inhumans characters the game would probably get.

But after reading the source, I have to say it's wrong. Jay Ong isn't Capcom's vice president, he's Marvel Games' vice president.

But anyways, back on topic.
I'd love to see a new MvC. That it can't have any X-Men or Fantastic Four? Doesn't bother me at all. If MvC2 was contaminated with X-Men characters, why not have one contaminated with MCU? Although I will lament not playing with Dr. Doom, but I can live with that.

actually the opposite is true. disney stopped making games, and will only give licenses for other game companies to make games based on their characters. like this new spider man game that was revealed at E3.
theoretically, capcom should be able to renew their license to the mvc franchise now.

I'd actually really like to have MvC4 as long as there is no one touch = death combos, it's what made me stay away from UMvC3 despite liking the game...

As far as characters go, some may disagree with me on this one but it'd be great to have Rocket Raccoon back in an MvC game, he was so much fun in UMvC3. Nemesis was cool too, he was like the Q of MvC to me.

Realistically though I don't expect a new MvC game coming out any time soon, given Capcom's state right now it feels quite doubtful.

i would also love to see daredevil as a playable character.

but the fighting game market is a bit crowded right now and with all the fighting games out im sure capcom doesn't wanna compete against themselves lol

I just want to be able to get the old MvC games without having to journey to lands afar. I wouldn't mind a sequel/remake, tho. Maybe go the TvC route in terms of gameplay/roster length.

They should remake MvC2 and expand the roster because the consoles of today are capable of withholding LOTS of CPS2 sprites should they ever return to 2D sprites.

I would seriously not want a Marvel vs. Capcom 4 unless:

They get rid of ToD combos in general and make it more like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
CAPCOM has control of the Marvel characters they get(I heard that Capcom had to do alot of ridiculous quirks and such because Marvel mainly used the game as promotional material to the movies to the point of even dictating what hand signs Doctor Strange has to use for his magic)

Otherwise, it will just be more of the same.

I heard it did have an effect but I'm not sure to how much of a degree as Venom was wanted by Capcom but Marvel didn't want him in from what I heard.

they had to fight marvel's higher-ups to include sentinel, storm and wolverine because of their established tiers in the older games so im not surprised they didnt include venom.

maybe in the future but sfv is capcom's main fighting game right now so if they compete against themselves at this point it would hurt themselves.

they already needed funding from sony so it would just be them shooting themselves in the foot if they did it at this point, especially since sfv is still in a early state.

its why txsf is on hold

what i mean is that the fighting game market is crowded, its the reason why txsf is on hold, harada-san stated that the game would compete against both sfv and tk7 which is a bad idea.

I had 2nd thoughts about them doing a remake of MvC2... I don't think it'll work at all because it's more difficult to animate 2D than 3D.

Back when TvC was made it was still a dormant IP that hadn't been touched in over a decade. Now that it's been getting almost constant commercial activity since 2012, I think it's more likely to be included should a new TvC happen.

im not sure if i believe that. mvc3's newcomers don't make a lot of sense to me if marvel had such a gigantic boner for using the game to promote upcoming movies. what's the point of showcasing x-23, deadpool, taskmaster, phoenix, ghost rider, super skrull? those are characters they didn't have the movie rights to, and when you consider the newcomers they had the rights to, where's modok in any of the movies? nova? she hulk? the iron fist netflix show wasn't in development until late 2013.

if marvel really was in charge of their side of the roster in umvc3 they did a pretty good and fair job
