MUGEN Auto Configuration Tool - Create your own game in seconds!

Hi All,

I'm a noob here but I'm a big mugen fan.

I'm currently building a MUGEN frontend tool that I think you guys will like.

Heres my first look video

This program so far does the following:


Lists all your characters in your chars folder

Lists all the stages in your stages folder

Displays the Display name, Mugen Version, AI setting, Date Version, Author Name

Allows you to select characters and stages you want in your game

Creates the select.def file

Catergorise your characters by sex, rating and from game

Change the AI of characters (if other AI options are available)

Quick access to the characters .def file

Export a list of characters and stages (.csv, txt format)

Saves your game config


Any other ideas? give me a shout.

Don't forget to check the video, it pretty much covers what I've been able to do so far

Uh, forgive me, but is the download in the video?

If it's not, why is it in releases? It'd be in projects, surely?

Forgive me, but I feel reluctant to click on the video without knowing the priors, because I don't want to look at something I can't really use yet. [I know how weird that sounds, but to be honest, it's true.]

Sorry my friend but I new and sure of this sites posting format.

I will correct this.

However, the reason I post is I value your opinion

Before I go and complete a project, I need to be sure I have included everything that you guys require from a game manager.

I could go ahead and let you have this right now if you wish?

I could be v1?

And then I could improve it?

Does it only work with Fighter Jam, or with any screenpack?

If it does what the video shows, I say release it. It's the only way to get true feedback.

certain characters come with more than one AI file. In the characters folder, you get files that end .cmd they are AI files.

Some may say noai.cmd, medai.cmd and expai.cmd

If you have a choice open the [character name].def file and look at the ai file the character is using. If its on expai.cmd change it to noai.cmd and the character will become much easier to beat (you may notice that changing the level difficulty in the game itelf doesnt make a difference on certain characters and this is why)

It currently only creates game files for MFJ (programmed specifically to add characters to the select.def file for MFJ). All other features will work with any screenpack but the main idea here is to create the select.def file as qucikly and easily as possible

The reason for this is that all select.def files for screen packs are very different, so I choose MFJ as it looks nice and can hold 800 characters.

For myself it wouldn't be an issue to re-code it and create different versions for different screen packs. I'm just not familiar yet with the popularity of screenpacks as I've only known about MUGEN a for week!

Thanks for the pointer but I use this program in its BETA state to configure my game. It takes less than a second to add 800 players to the rooster! I do not understand how this isn't quicker than the manual method? there is no way on earth any can add 800 players and 300 stages to the rooster correctly in this time manually!

I'm was created software to mugen in vb6 too, I was creater the MEX, the ultimate Char tester & the ultimate installer, if you want to working together to develop a new software [or this], please contact me  :sugoi:

all select.def files for screen packs are very different, so I choose MFJ as it looks nice and can hold 800 characters.
Maybe creating one for the standard screenpack would be a good idea, and also for MUGEN 1.0.
I like the idea of this tool. I already suggested to Elecbyte that they add this feature to the Options menu, but it looks like you already did it.

Sorting by path-name would be nice, especially for stages.

I'm probably one of the only few who uses the path of:
/stages/name_of_game_or_category

for example:
/stages/dc
   /stages/dc/batman
   /stages/dc/superman
/stages/marvel
/stages/streetfighter

I do the same for characters:
/chars/dc
/chars/marvel
/chars/streetfighter

It would be nice to select all of the characters in a folder (recursively) and to apply a game to it.
One or two custom fields for characters would also be nice too.
i think we should call it an "engine" so we don't look like total idiots because otherwise we'd be arguing about a "game" and that would be somehow "dumber" than arguing about an "engine" on the "internet" for countless hours

Hi,

I will include a path field for both character and stages in the lists. This list on the program are sortable by pressing the column header. You would then see all you files that are in the same path together
