I'm sure all of you know about the XvX patch for the Mugen engine. However, after succumbing to curiousity, I find the download link only to discover the following message;

If this is indeed legitimate this is quite... disturbing. Especially considering the patch had nothing to do with Nintendo?

If you wanna quickly try this just open up a hex editor, find the byte at offset 0xF570 0x57F0 (for 1.1) or 0x3C37F (for 1.0) in your Mugen.exe (it should be a 2) and change it to 3 or 4. Mugen will crash if you try and put 5 players on one team.

Interesting enough other uploads of this had copyright claims by the ESA instead.

This is rather peculiar......
Personally I'm more confused as to what this patch has to do with Nintendo.

Seriously, I am starting to believe that all of these takedowns so far, ranging from mugen and even shit like youtube and them, is the result of mass abuse of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Why isn't anyone thought about just voting to remove this law anyway? Japan has better copyright laws and even ALLOWED the use of copyrighted material so long as it is not used for profitable means *Unless you wish it and ask*.
the DMCA has been flawed for years now, and so far alot of people have been abusing the loopholes of this law to pose as the original creators with bad intent. Personally I would like to see these pretenders get punished but hey, its the internet :T.
Also good call on the patch. Mind updating the link?
