All of the above. Sure SNK may have fucked up BIG time with this one, but we would not have Kyo, Iori, Terry, Geese, etc. awesome characters if it wasn't for them.
They possibly went the wrong path, but SNK always seems to be on the short side of thier chequebook and have to release slightly rushed shit.It's a shame Nona decided to be "the man" for this one. According to shit i read each and every frame passed through him for detailing. Not only would that have been expensive, it would have been horribly time consuming. And then look what we wound up with. Some of the art was awesome. Some was more of an "oh god why" terry, ralf, clark, joe, daimon. Very much buggered up, especially considering the previous realism of most of the SNK stuff.
Yeah it was bad times all around lol. When they really fucked up is when they made the Maximum Impact series. I'm not saying it's bad because I actually like it. But they should have went the SFIV route and made it 2.5d and at least gave it some, say, more cartoonish/cel-shaded graphics or something like that. Because looking at it now, some of the moves just look silly in the realistic 3d direction they went in. But hey, hopefully they learn, or its gonna be 2000-2002 (the actual years not the KOFs lol) for them all over again.
