So Reisen is the next new character announced for THRP:GR. She'll continue to maintain her pressure-based playstyle from Soku. The biggest change is that she now has the Spell-breaking Drug system card as a character exclusive mechanic, which drains the opponent's power on hit, thus locking down opponent that rely on meter. Granted, Reisen will only be able to accomplish this with a stock system, which determines how many uses of the drug she can use. She'll start the round with 1 and hold up to 3, gaining more as she takes damage.

PS: Personally I like Reisen's blazer outfit the best but those who prefer her default Soku palette will be glad to know it will still be there.

PSS: Development postponed pending Reisen's gameplay changes in PS4 version of ULiL.

In light of news that Reisen will be added to the PS4 version of Urban Legend in Limbo's roster, progress on her is postponed pending any changes to her gameplay in that game. Thread will still be open for development ideas.

While the final touches are being added to Cirno and no news of when the hell the PS4 version of ULiL is getting released, work on Reisen has resumed.

Mind Explosion. Reisen's default 236 from SWR/Soku. Still safe on block, but not to the same level as in source. Unlike Soku, it can also be used in the air, similar to her C bullets in that game. Like Soku, it also curves slightly toward the opponent.

Ultrared Field. Just like in Soku, Reisen becomes completely invisible if the opponent is inside the field, which also grants her projectile immunity. Unlike Soku, determining whether the field is initially placed at Reisen's location or her opponent's depends on how the move is executed, either by using ~F, D, DF, x or with ~B, D, DB, x, with the latter being smaller and not lasting as long. This change was necessary due to her simultaneously possessing Ultraviolet Field, which replaced Ultrared Field if selected in source. Only one field can be active at any time, which also goes for Ultraviolet Field.

Come to think of it, wouldn't it have been more accurate/correct to call this move Infrared Field instead? I'm not the one who came up with these names after all...

Ultraviolet Field. Like Ultrared Field, the placement is dependent on wether 623 or 421 is executed. It differs drastically, however, as it produces an illusionary clone of Reisen that copies her movements, essentially allowing Reisen to greatly extend the range of her normals as long as the opponent is inside the field. The clone cannot be hit, and always stays at a fixed position in front of Reisen. There is, however, a small damage penalty that is applied, and the move does not affect Reisen's other specials.



Undersense Break, the last of Reisen's 623/421 specials. Reisen's best anti-air, as it has quick startup and upper body invincibility, and covers the entire area around Reisen. Unlike Soku, this move is classed as a melee attack rather than a projectile, so don't expect to block it if you get caught inside it while in midair.

Optic Blast Illusionary Blast. This one can only be used on the ground, and slower startup than Mind Explosion, but is safe on block. Can also beat out most other projectiles as well.

Disbelief Aspect. Has a lengthy startup, but provides Reisen with cover fire to maintain pressure. Also creates an ambiguous mixup when trying to determine which is the real Reisen.

Spell-breaking Drug. Loosely based off of the system card of the same name from Hisoutensoku, except now it's a mid-ranged projectile instead of a melee attack. For those not familiar with the card's original effect, it would essentially deal low damage but destroys the top card of your opponent's hand on hit, but consumed the card in the process. This time around it depletes 1000 power on hit, but Reisen only carries a limited stock and can only use the drug as long as she has stock to spare. She'll start off each round with at least one drug, which carries over between rounds. She'll gain more when she reaches 55% and 10% of her maximum health, and can hold up to three at once. The power reduction can be avoided completely if the opponent blocks it, so use them sparingly

Shortsight "X-Wave". At first glance it seems to be a super version of Undersense Break. Though lacking in damage, it makes up for this in its utility, as not only does it possesses true startup invincibility instead of only on the upper body, but on hit or block it causes also Reisen to be surrounded by an illusory clone for 8 seconds, as if the opponent were inside her Ultraviolet Field.

Hyper Mystic Ray Red Eyes "Lunacy Ray". Loosely based off of her "Lunatic Blast" spellcard from Soku, except in a sweeping motion that hits OTG. Who knows, she might even be able to hit a certain extradimensional warlord tentacle monster with this...

"Lunatic Red Eyes", Reisen's signature move and the first of her two selectable Last Words. Although it may look like it, this move isn't truly a fullscreen attack. It's also Reisen's only air-usable spellcard.

Tele-Mesmerism. Reisen's Last Word from Imperishable Night. Tracks the opponent's position. The strike can also be delayed by holding the button, causing the tracers to condense. Charging the super causes the final laser to deal additional hits, and can be charged up to one second after the tracers first appear. When fully charged, it allows Reisen to regain control before the laser disappears, so it's good for okizeme.

So there's been an unexpected change in plans:

Up until now, Reisen has been using her SWR sprites with color separation to allow for additional palettes such as her Imperishable Night colors. However, Reddosukato's edited sprites incorporates her IN blazer much more effectively than any color separation palette tricks can, so she'll be transitioning to those. These sprites also have the added bonus of already having most of the color separation done aside from her socks, so the current template should still be suitable. However, I will be uploading a new palette template later to fully accomodate for the new sprites.

Updated palette template to accommodate for Reisen's new sprites. Fortunately the palettes made for the old template can easily be ported over so there shouldn't be a need to redo them. Also includes Reisen's bunny tail which I wasn't aware was in her old sprites.



The original three palettes for her Imperishable Night, Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, and Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom colors, respectively.
