Hi guys!

It's me, walt, day dreaming again ... but this time around, I've got an ace up my sleeve. I contacted the nice fellow who made this gorgeous MGRex Model to see if I could get his permission to use his renders as a base for a sprite. Turns out he gladly agreed, and even went as far as to offer to get some screenies in different angles if necessary :nice:

SO! As the giant boss type I've conceived an MGRex character to be, he's gonna be pretty static, but still could use some motion in some parts or something to make some attacks. In this thread, we brainstorm! I'll receive all your ideas to incorporate ANY gameplay to the few beautiful sprites we're gonna get from this amazing fellow.


*Missiles - Throws them from the back, target the opponent in case the opponent gets behind, out of reach for REX.
*Radome should follow the opponent, if I get the sprites. If not, I'll have to use what there is, and rotate by hand from there :P
*Lazors - Under the chin, in case the opponent gets too close.
*Rail Gun - To attack long range to the front.

[STAGE] Haven't thought of a stage that might work for him, depending on the renders I get, and if he'll be able to move his legs :P

Gimme ideas guys!

Super armour seems like a given here.

Also, what are you aiming for :
- One sprite split into pieces (torso, each leg, each arm, each weapon), and assembled through code in Mugen, so the animation would be all done with sprite rotation in game.
- Animate stuff by hand like a champ'.

A godzilla like foot smash seems like a must.
You could have soldiers coming in from the sides to attack the opponent , but I dont remember the fight with him being much for minions.

I demand that OmegaPsycho or Bane84 codes this character and its interactive stage for Mugen 1.1 so we can have a boss fight where you'd hide behind stage elements and where you could jump on Rex' back to hit him from there, all that with zooming in and out so we can appreaciate Rex entirely.

alternatively, use the missiles as stepping stones to get up there and punch out the pilot

His finishing move is a nuke which upon exploding swarms the opponent with extensive codec conversations until they pass out.

a codec conversation where the general tells you the gist of how to fight it and the codec contact going SNAKE? SNAKKEEEE? as you die would be funny.

Sorry for the lack of replies, I was finishing the cleaning of the image.  I think it turned out well.



I wonder if there's a photoshop filter to reduce the color count, like increasing the contrast and then reducing the colors to have less JPG noise.

Yeah, definitely would be the way to go.

I've heard that keeping an axis and rotating in mugen isn't very reliable, although I may be wrong.

- Animate stuff by hand like a champ'.
Only whatever is absolutely necessary. The model itself is so good, tinkering with it would be the last of my wishes. Maybe just add small animations that indicate the thing is alive. I don't want it to be 100% static like Apocalypse, that just slides when he needs to move :sadgoi:

At some point I considered using a couple of sprites from that one as a base, but it's just ... it's a mess.

I'm affraid if I make it bigger, it won't fit in the screen :S
I have to make more size tests.



@Duck Yeah, I've considered it. Hitting the RADOME should turn down the AI probably :tongry:

new thing:
-some character must be inside of MG rex ,then a life is going back (when is radome destroyed) to half of life then p1 can be able to hit character cabine.

Do you guys think it'd be better to have this rendered for Low Res to keep its pixelly goodness, or if possible it would be better to have it rendered for a 640 x 480 resolution (wouldn't the filesize be too gigantic)?

320 because not everybody has more than 1GB of RAM on their PC.
Is finding MUGEN to be more enjoyable to play when you're not wearing clothes an underrated opinion?
