I think the stupid American is a misconception. The attitude of "us first, screw the rest" in a weird positive way, often described as patriotism, does not exist in most other nations, at least not in that specific way which probably originates in the war for indepencende.\\ editheh. indepencende.

Actually, an english speaking friend and I were in Paris a couple years back, and my friend held the door open for a man, and said in French, 'have a nice day'. Or something, I can't really remember.My friend may still have been learning French, but he said it correctly, and you could easily understand it.My friend was shocked and apalled when the man didn't reply, or even react.We learned from this experience that that particular Frenchman is a dick.English or French.
