The hadron collider had already started operations about three or two months ago, why are they re announcing it?

it actually was delayed to sept 11th (in europe, 10 here), it was meant to start operations in summer, but they delayed it...

What's the point in moaning now, you had the last 10 years to complain to them, but no, people decided to do it a week before it starts.

What annoys me about now, is that people are going "OH NO, WE ARE GOING TO DIE" and don't even know what the machine does. Does anyone read anymore, you're on the internet, you have no excuse. What this machine is going to do, is discover what happened after the big bang AKA how we got here. Now most of you have probably asked that question before, and soon you are going to find out.

Also, if you have read up on this, you would know, that there are other Hadron Colliders, about five of them, including the LHC. and two of them were at CERN, which is where the LHC is based. when the LHC is turned on, then three Hadron Colliders will be online, with one turning off next year, which is called Tevatron.

There is no need to worry, To make it easier, Me kicking one of you in the balls is much stronger than the LHC.

LHC = 14 TeV (10-6)
Me Kicking Someone In the Balls = 1000 Tev (10+1)

If you know about black holes, you will know that they are created by dying stars. But the ones CERN mentioned are Micro Black Holes, which are not created by the star dying, but were created during the big bang, these black holes evaporated due to lack of energy, and were smaller than a flea. the LHC is stronger than a Micro Black Hole, so due to the Mass it's creating, which is the same Mass as a fly, the Black Holes want even last a Nanosecond.

Now a normal Black hole on the other hand, you will need to have the power of the sun to try to get one of them, and the LHC, or any human Resources can't reach that much Energy. The only way for a Black hole to appear at the LHC, is for the machine to be stronger than the sun.

One more thing to note, when it becomes fully operational on the 10th, the first thing they're gonna do is test the alignment of the magnets by firing a few test beams in the same direction.  Experiments won't begin until much later.

  • I got a PM.
After that we all see the true power of this fully armed and operation battle station.

well, an official news agency in france, reporting the inauguration of the LHC, in almost then end of the article says (sorry, i got it in spanish)

Quote
Colisionándolos, el LCH hará pedazos iones pesados que generarán brevemente temperaturas 100.000 veces más elevadas que la que se registra en el centro del sol.

ahm, translating it "Collisioning them, the LCH will generate briefly temperatures 100,000 times higher than that recorded in the center of the sun."

in other words, once it can work at full capacity, it will have enough power to create that...briefly maybe, but still enough to produce it...

Really now.
What type of thermometer did they use?

And briefly would probably refer to nanoseconds.

  • 日本は素晴らしい国です。
Curiously enough, there are those that are opposed to this due to a book "angels and demons" that used the Hadron to produce a divine particle that was then used to erase the vatican from existence with a huge explosion.
