New chapter, that reminded me a bit of back when they fought people like Guldo. And now, we wait one more month to see actual new things. Shoudda put the cliffhanger after showing at least the beginning of the first move.
edit
just saw the Broly early screening in my city.
Spoiler: About that battle end (click to see content)
So the "spoilers" going around and people discussing the end of the fight made it sound like it just ended with Gogeta trashing Broly and then Chirai saving his butt. This is fair, but damn, that's a really misleading assessment.
Until then it seemed like the movie was making out Broly was beyond power levels, he was just always above everyone else, which was nice because it would force the story to actually find an ending that's not just power level, and the Chirai relationship seemed to go that way. But then these Gogeta discussions made it seem like, nope, Broly just kicks everyone's ass then Gogeta shows up and resolves everything by, oh, just being stronger to the point Broly is actually scared of him and that's it. And I was seriously miffed about that, I was really uneasy over it going into the theater.
Turns out that all the fights start with Broly being confused by his current enemy's abilities, getting bitchslapped into ice walls, then he stands up and shouts and smashes the shit out of them. They go up a level, and it starts over with the confusion while Broly visibly learns to actually fight against that sort of opponent for a bit. It's just that when Gogeta shows up, it gets REALLY intense and Broly does seem to get tired, and while it's clear that he's actually about to die at the end (especially since he snaps back and regains his sanity just as the beam gets in his face), it's not so much a big deal because that was exactly how he's been doing things until then. It's reasonable to think it's really about his sanity and not that much about THIS ISN'T MY FINAL FORM/power levelz shenanigans, and if they had wanted to make it all about power levels, they still had room to claim Broly could go higher if he fully abandoned his sanity, he was probably "still learning and growing".
I'm disappointed that Broly is full green for barely 10 seconds before getting beamed away. But maybe that could support the idea that it wasn't about power level because he still had room to go beyond that. So I'm relieved that the battle doesn't just wrap up by way of "to beat him, just get stronger".
And damn, all that comedy, and all that character tragedy. You seriously go what the fuck when you see Broly shitting his pants when Paragus explains the shock collar. It's like Toriyama looked at the original Broly movie but actually took the time to think how the two could actually live together in exile when you don't forget the little details, and the tragic, fucked up relationship just pops up by itself. And then he uses that for comedy with Freeza's gamble to make Broly go SSJ.
... Not sure what the hell was up with the Doctor Strange psychedelic sequence. With mixing ArcSys 3D and even a few realistic background shots, was that a nod to the "battle at god level breaks reality" thing from BoG ? They could have had Whis mention that for a second if that's what it was.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.
