Roy was a one-shot character added (lazily I might add because clone) to advertise his upcoming game.

He's completely irrelevant now. Get over him already.

But its more than just the purple cape. Look at the coloring on his armor, pants, boots. All its missing is red hair.

Except, you know, Dr. Mario is one of Nintendo's best internationally selling puzzle series dating back to the gameboy and the NES where they were in the top 10 in terms of sales.

Roy was in a game that
a) Never came to the US, not past NOR present unlike Marth
b) was only put in to PROMOTE a FUTURE release
c) Was literally named "EMBLEM" in the game files

I like him too but I know exactly why he's not here. Oh and
d) The fire emblem fanbase in Japan (Arguably the largest) dislike him.

But are there truly grown men in this world?!

Roy is the lamest lord in all of FE.  That he got to be in Smash but Hector and Ephraim never did is an utter travesty.  Unless FE6 gets remade or something I wouldn't expect him back at all.

in terms easy for more casual fans to understand: his growths are better than eliwood's, his promotion gains are better than eliwood's. this makes him better statistically than eliwood at the least. then you got ppl like micaiah in rd and marth in sd.

i already schooled homer on this one lol, roy being the worst lord is a myth people who dont really know the series like to toss around. he is just a little harder to use

Hey come on now, be fair.  The decision that led to Dark Pit being playable was definitely way stupider than that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sakurai actually wanted to do Dark Pit even back then, and planned it as soon as he got his hands on the KI franchise lol.  Just wait until Sakurai gets his hands on F-Zero and Golden Falcon becomes Captain Falcon's SSJ power up or something.

1: someone from punch out (little mac clone)
would be a bigger character, slower overall. maybe he could be better on the air than little mac. no KO power bar gimmick. i don't know
2: someone from pikmin 3 (olimar clone)
remove the alph costume and make him his own character, or make someone else from pikmin 3 an olimar clone
3: impa (sheik clone)
i don't really have anything
4: black knight (ike clone)
might be too many fire emblem characters at that point
5: dixie kong (diddy kong clone)
might need too much animation work for a couple new moves however
6: black bull (captain falcon clone)
he would take ganondorf's moveset and ganondorf would get a new one but this is never ever happening
7: daisy (peach clone)
she would have a really annoying hi i'm daisy taunt everybody would spam
8: dark samus (samus clone)
replacing dark charactername with another dark charactername is not a very exciting idea but even dark samus is more interesting than dark pit

I maintain that Glass Joe as a Pichu styled clone of Little Mac would have been fantastic.

You mean Black Shadow, right Titiln? I mean, if you're gonna suggest the guy from F-Zero you should at least get his name right ;P

Dark Pit is perfectly fine only because of the salt river. He's essentially the least necessary thing ever and I find that amusing in that regard.
