Ah, yea. Region could vary on the quantity. I know MvC2 in general for the PS2 had limited copies world wide. And ignition did a horrible job with publishing KOF. In America, the rarest kof game is orochi saga lol.

I used to teach a fighting games class, so I have multiple copies of some games for the classroom.

A fighting game CLASS?! You, my friend, are awesome!

It was around the 2005-2007 times, What we did was hold gatherings to play fighters and that anyone was welcomed to come and walk in to watch and play.
We would have ps2 and dreamcasts on with games and I would briefly lecture everyone how to play this game or teach them how to use a certain char. We also had game tourney/events but those varied on scheduled times and dates. The most popular games were Tekken 5, Guilty Gear XX #Reload and SFIII 3rd Strike and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Because of the PS2 port of MvC2 being slower, we had to use Dreamcast. KOF XI was pretty popular too. CvS2 eventually took off. But mostly GGXX and Tekken and Melty Blood have been the dominant favorites. Oh yea, we also had stick modders. I "retired" now because I don't have much time anymore for these kind of get togethers : (. I used to be very active in the scene and have really old footage from arcades and stuff from shaky cameras lol.

I'm a very passionate fan of fighting games and the interaction with people. I've made a lot of friends around the world cuz of it.
I've met Daigo and Jwong and etc. Streams don't do justice in getting to know people.
(Local Event/ Regionals) (No, I'm not in the photo, I'm afraid to show myself on the Internet)

Ah, that was a mistake by me, caused because a different meaning of an almost same sounding word

Here in Germany we use the word "Eventuell" in a similar way to "if you ever decide to change your opinion"

And i thought eventually means the same, after looking it up now, i know it means more something like "schließlich" and gives the sentence another meaning.

Sorry for the confusion, i meant If you ever change your opinion!

nice collection! @Reinhold_H I'm missing KOF NeoWave and 94 Re-Bout to complete my ps2 kof collection. I have burned copies but doesn't feel the same Lol.

@Erroratu lol you got DBGT, that's a pretty popular classic game back in the day. I remember every rental store always having it out.

and @Hoshi did you get your autograph at fanime? cuz I remember Daisuke and Mori being there and we trolled them about Super Turbo being a more technical game than Blazblue

DAMN!! These are some mighty fine collections. I'm loving all that I see.

While I don't have anything to show photograph wise, 95% of all of my fighting games are in Emulated form with a majority of them being played through my MAME setup along with some SNES, Genesis and PlayStation Emulation. While you can't beat having the original copy of a title sitting around for you to hold and observe, there's something crazy awesome about having a digital copy that is playable through multiple forms (E.G. Laptop, PSP or Desktop). And Emulation also allows for some super rare titles to be instantly accessible. Most notably Killer Instinct 1 and 2, and while not necessarily a fighting game, Alien VS Predator in their true arcade forms. I also prefer Tekken Tag Tournament in it's System 12 glory!!

You name it, I most likely have it (As far as anyhting from the 90's and up). I'm happy to say I've got every Capcom and SNK fighting game (KOF, MvC, etc).

But seriously, looking at all of these pics is bringing back some massive amounts of nostalgia. No wonder why I feel so at home here.

Great games @MDI

TMNT Tournament Fighters SNES and World Heroes are some of my childhood favorites. I was super happy seeing Hanzo and Fuuma return out of nowhere in Neogeo Battle Coliseum.

and you got the legit Saturn imports of MSH vs. SF and X-MEN COTA. Superior ports than PS1 Lol.
(major thumbs up if you have X-MEN vs. Street Fighter).

@Niitris : Nice collection yourself too. You got all the up to date games. Hope you get DOA5 Ultimate and I have a new friend to play with.

@Darkflare: Nice, you got PS2 CvS2 and KOF 2006, those are uncommon and kind of rare in my area

@Saikoro: We should match up on Xbox Live if you're up for it. I don't have Much games on 360 though because I've been on PS3 more lately.

Thanks, man. Best thing I've heard about having a large collection of fighters... and it doesn't include games that I've already reached 100% on and have deleted in the process (which are Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, Sonic the Fighters, Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown)

Seeing all of these titles in actual retro form brings back a slew of memories. Most notably are all of the Sega Saturn thoughts... I got that system solely for X-Men VS Street Fighter, and boy, it did not disappoint. I paid 92.90 for it!! A fun factoid from me is that one of my best friends, who is a brother to me, met because of that game:

I was sitting in my High School's Media Center. Vick was sitting to my left and I saw he was using a search engine to look up stuff for XMvSF. I glanced over and we started a conversation about how great that game is. When I mentioned I had the import, his head literally exploded. We became friends that day. And that was 16 years ago.

It's also a trip to see SNK's SNES conversions. While somewhat watered down, they sure were awesome. I'll never forget all of the comparisons between Samurai Shodown for the SNES and Genesis.

:pwnonk:

Aw fuck yeah... Tekken. I loved that game. I remember playing as Kuma and thinking it was a guy in a bear costume. I then tried Kazuya, followed by Paul. And then I picked Yoshimitsu and fell in love with the character. The rest, they say, is history.

That looks like it is in phenomenal shape too. Fantastic.  :woeh:

Its more or less the same as the original KOF 94..just with more modern graphics and one additional character ..the changes are much smaller than in the kof 98 and 2002 remakes

Yup, and the limited edition box comes with a nice booklet too, there are also some KOF history movies but completely in Japanese on the disc.

Time for another blast from the past after Tekken I ...this time a real ...gem of the PSX Era (sigh)

Criticom had a few really nice ideas for that time but was in general a quite bad game..the packaging was cool though, it had nice artworks of two of the characters inside its box, the booklet is only in black&white though

Yeah..back when around every 3rd psx fighting game was a total mess of different ideas which did not work well together :-)

Zero Divide sure splitted opinions :-) The gameplay itself was not TOO bad and reminded me personally a lot at the Sega fighters of that era, the graphic of the first part were horrible but at least the music and the gameplay itself was okay. The 2nd part was a improvement of everything, but those low polygon robot models with their very strange designs and the even weirder background stages were not fitting together really.

And DAMN Guy Zero, those are some mighty impressive classics. It's great, and impressive, to see all of those SNES titles intact like that. Awesome good sir. :2thumbsup:

I'm glad that XBLA/PSN got a slew of classic SNK and SEGA titles, especially the fighting games.

I tend to not judge the graphics of the first because......well it was a launch title. And the designs on some of the characters in the second game were definite improvements (though some were downgrades....Nereid noooooooo ). I do apply what you said to the Saturn port of 2 (yes it was a port) but even then I can't really complain since the Saturn was pretty inferior to the PS1 when it came to graphics.

Also Shoot GBK, I didn't think you'd have Criticom too. I know for a fact I have that in a box, maybe when I get back to my apartment I'll dig for it and snap a picture.

*a US launch title :P

Back in September 1995 the graphics looked already bad compared to Battle Arena Toshinden which was released around 8 months earlier in Japan

speaking about it...

Still using the Game CD sometimes to listen to its music which was damn awesome and is still great after almost 20 years. Especially Sofia's and Kayins stages

I'd actually argue the opposite. ZD's stuff looks good long after you noticed how stiff Toshinden 1's characters were :/

And a launch title is still a launch title (Toshinden wasn't a launch title in Japan either).

Fuck man!! Seeing Toshinden brings back memories. I loved the graphics for that game and the soundtrack was stellar.

While not the real deal, I have a soft spot for Emulation due to it's ease of accessibility and space saving principles.

Here is Killer Instinct running on my MAME. All of the following screenshots are from my PC hooked into my 42 Samsung. I have a 2 port PlayStation 2 Controller Converter and each title has been mapped properly button wise.

Mortal Kombat II

Tekken Tag Tournament... Still the best

Lastly, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike (Non CD Rom)

There's some awesome to be said to have everything at your fingertips. However, having the authentic title at your disposal is the best way to go.

I believe it has a lot to do with how the HDD file is set up.The file is marked .CHD and it's like 94 megs. If you don't have that, the game won't run.

Tekken Tag Tournament, fuck yeah!

I have a ton of more stuff, just no photos. LOL

And there's something to be said about playing the original TTT to this day (I rock it on ultra hard and kick it's ass). The PlayStation 2 version is one of my favorite games, for obvious reasons, but the charm of the arcade version never fades away. I think personally it has a lot to do with how awesome Tekken 3 was on the PSOne/Arcade with those timeless, blocky and astonishingly fluid character models. Seeing Tekken 2 characters in 3's form was mind blowing at the time. Another nuance that is phenomenal to me was the inclusion of facial animations. Seeing characters blink, along with hand articulation, was amazing back in the arcades. And still to this day.

Two of my all time favorite throws are Lee Chaolan's and Kazuya's side throws: Lee stomping on your head with maniacal laughter and Kazuya punching you in the back of the head, lighting, theatrics and all while on your knees. Oh!! And Gun Jack's Spanking throw. Almost forgot about that one.

Off of the top of my head, I have these titles archived and readily available to play:

MK1, 2, 3 and Ultimate
Tekken 1, 2, 3, Tag, 4 (Non working) and 5 (Non working)
KoF 94 (Or whatever starting year) all the way to 2000 or 2002 (All of the 2D ones, I may be wrong on the final year)
Fatal Fury, it's Special and Real Bout counterparts
Art of Fighting 1, 2 and 3
Kizuna Encounter
Power Instinct
Waku waku 7
Samurai Showdown and all of it's sequels
World heroes and all of it's sequels
Killer Instinct 1 and 2
Cyberbots
Pocket and Puzzle Fighter
Darkstalkers and both of it's sequels
Rival Schools
Street Fighter EX and it's sequels
Street Fighter Alpha 1,2 and 3
Street Fighter 1, 2 and all of 2's variants
Street Fighter 3 and all of it's variants
X-Men CotA
Marvel Super Heroes
X-Men VS Street Fighter
Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter
Marvel VS Capcom
Marvel VS Capcom 2 (Non working)
Ehrgize
Primal Rage

And a lot of others I forget about. All of these titles took me years of searching, organizing and archiving to properly have at my fingertips. I had a retro gaming night with all of my friends and it was fucking awesome with all of us using either PS2 controllers or SF4 arcade joysticks. Also, a few notable Arcade titles I have (E.G. must play if you haven't already) and play frequently include:

The Simpsons
The X-Men
Alien VS Predator
Guwange
Time Crisis 2
Crisis Zone (Non working)
Mercs
Jackal
Terminator 2: the Arcade Game (AWESOME with a mouse!!)

Yeah a lot. I believe I have about 400 Arcade titles. It's fucking nuts!!

Did Toshinden 2 ever come in a jewel case later on?  I got this when it first came out.  I've taken care of my stuff though the years, and the cardboard is coming off the damn box.

First Xbox games:

Complete PS1 fighting games I got, with the imports.  Not including all the copies I got.  The Street Fighter EX still has phone card in it.:

Sega Saturn games.  Keep getting into arguments that the Saturn and arcade musics of Fighting Vipers is different.  What do I know?  It's not like I OWN the Saturn port and the arcade port on PSN.:

Dreamcast set.  I don't give a fuck what anyone says, my favorite fighting game period for the genre was from 96-2000.

My Neo Geo carts.

Fav cart, bought it when it was new.  Liked it enough to buy soundtrack when it was new and the Saturn port.

good stuff guy-zero.

I wish I had a Sega Saturn. Most of my favorite fighters were on it. My first console as a Dreamcast. So I was never able to get Saturn or PS1 games till ironically now where I shop online.

Also if you still like collection Dreamcast version of games, you should get the JP versions of DOA2 because that one has different rebalancing and extra costumes. It's litterarly the PS2 version Hard*Core but for Dreamcast with better anti alias. Also the JP version of KOF Dream Match 99 is uncut and has the standard 98 colors corresponding to the button you press to pick the char instead of the U.S. version where you need to press X+A or X+B+Y etc.

Also one more question, is your MK Gold the blood red disk version or the yellow golden disk version? Midway released two versions where one had some kind of saving glitch fixed. Was wondering which version it was if you knew.

At Kasumi1030,

Yeah, I got a bootleg of the Jap DOA2 Hardcore update on the DC.  Shitty job at the time so I never was able to go out and get a real copy.  Thou now I found a store here in town that sells stuff from every era, and they had several DC titles I missed out on and only have bootlegs of.  I owned the import version of KOF Dream Match 99, and sold it when the US version came out.  Aside from the color issue, the intro was also slightly censored too, the part when King throws her drink at the screen.  I never was able to find the import version again after the US version was out.  I felt fucking bummed out until a couple of years back when KOF 98 UM for PS2 came out.

On Mortal Kombat Gold, never knew they released a fixed version later on.  I got a first print of the game the very first week it was released.  The disk i have is yellow.  The fuckers in the instruction manuel even said that the game wasn't suported by the VMU.   I always thought that was so damned dumb that you couldn't save shit.   Case in point for those who've forgotten or don't believe:

Never knew they released a red fixed version.  First I've ever heard of this.

Do NOT attempt to use the VMU.

That's when I would attempt to do it. LOL
All of your Mugen Portrait needs may be found HERE.

I'd like to report two robots on the MFG forums: One is EXShadow. The other is Saikoro.
There should be a Saikoro plugin for Photoshop.

Phew, it's been years since the last time I even logged on to the Guild. Here comes my stuff...

It doesn't really have any vintage stuff because I started collecting not so many years ago. My Dreamcast era was full of bootlegs and the only two original games I had there were MVC1 and MVC2, lost long ago. Anyways, the game I really treasure out of all the collection is SFA3 for GBA  :gonkgoi:

And yes, thats a Hori RAP Premium VLX, modded with a Kitty, so it can be used on every console known to man.

It came with the SF 25th anniversary chest. It's not even opened because I already own AE and SFxT... it's SFxT.

@Roman55: I really love the game because I played it a lot, and it comes from an era where the handheld ports were not really good, excepting this game.

I doubt I'll do it since I'm a little obsesive. To put it in perspective, I own 4 copies of MGS3 (Vanilla + Subsistence + The Essentials Collection + HD), 3 copies of MGS2 (Substance + Essentials Collection + HD), 2 copies of Peace Walker (PSP + HD) and so on... and I don't plan on selling the extra copies.

That reminds me I have to buy Legacy Collection yet :P

The most recent game I got so far. JP's Ultimate Strongest Edition where it contained both Kasumi-Blue and Momiji-Red goods. But here is a small snapshot of the game.
