QuoteMugen EncartaThought that was the way it was spelt. I wouldn't want to attach anything too microsoft to it though so vista and XP are totally out in my mind.I think there should really be a rewrite of the select.def info provided. Titled "Adding characters" with a well thought out how to on it. Number of people i see who just can't add them even after looking at the select.def is incredible.Question on size too. How big are we willing to go? Some characters get pretty massive (dragonclaw at 16mb for eg) i suggest staying below 50mb. I know most people these days have cable but things like transfer limits still exist. I'm sure if it's got enough good stuff in it people will dl it anyway. If it's gonna go over 50 set up another one and people can learn how to move the characters between them.

150mb is good. Up to 4 gig. would be fine. Hey, it's bit torrent afterall. But reasonably, I'd say 300mb.
QuoteLike the one the actual Mugen has maybe ?You mean that 1 paragraph in the faq? There are ALWAYS people who can't add even after reading the select.def info. Not only that it doesn't mention the wierd stuff people do like naming their zip's and .def's different things causing your average new person a large number of problems. Or if the zip contains a folder and they extract into a new one causing 2 folders to exist.
Yea I don't all think open source is a good idea, really. It would just limit the supply of good chars too much But still, even if we only have five open source chars in there, that's still 6 times as many chars as in the default mugen, which might give a better start
If you wanna include stages, I can make a list of stages I'd like to include. There's a few I wouldn't want like the nes ones, or some of my earlier ones which need to be fixed up anyway. But besides that, there are a ton I could contribute.
Chuck in TESTP's 4 characters in there. And KFM. I might make a custom KFM if I got the time (I abandoned it a while ago) to add to it too ...

I think having nested character folders... open-source and closed-source should do just fine with a readme in each.
nested folders to diferentiate open and closed chars is ok. probably to tier, or by creator too as well.also, nested stages, either by game or creator.
[walt] said, April 21, 2006, 10:52:15 pmStagesby Bia + Caddie + JJWEStages? Made by myself? Could I have them? I've never released a single stage in nearly 7 years of this hobby. Stages are too hard to program. Characters, on the other side, are way easier to do.One can put my stuff on it if one sees fit and someone still have it. I took everything I had up in my site like... 49 days ago... Kisses.
Bia said, April 22, 2006, 06:52:10 pmI took everything I had up in my site like... 49 days ago... Oh! Er, why? Is it okay if I (or Random Select, or Street Mugen, or whoever) host it all?Edit: Ah, hadn't notice the second-from-the-top news announcement.
Um yeah, torrents are really bad. You should make it an http download. That way, you won't open the floodgates for pirating of pirated game content.Actually, I think while you're at it, you should buy elecbyte.com and restore their site plus a new user license.

yeah right Ummm... no. QuoteUm yeah, torrents are really bad...because?QuoteYou should make it an http download. A http download for 300MB files? Who'd pay for that? You? QuoteThat way, you won't open the floodgates for pirating of pirated game content.Because the way you get a file matters for what the file is used for afterwards?
SD was being sarcastic as usual, Val. That was an attempt of stabing at those who are against the torrent.
