When I was younger and I had to attend church with my parents, things like this happened all the time. My parents were Christian, specifically Pentacostal christian. Looking back as an adult you realize how insane some of the claims were. I lost many toys or was never able to get certain things due to my parents following whatever the church labelled as threatening. A good example is when they were trying to convince people that the logo for the Chicago bulls was a image of the devil reading a bible, when you invert it. How furby's were the pets of Satan, how ninja turtles were symbols of death because they were ninjas. Sadly as each of these messages fell on my parents' ears they'd always collect whatever it was and then donate/dispose of it, sometimes without even letting us know.There are strange cases of religious extremism where it's not necessarily offensive but stupid as hell, since they try so hard to break down things into what they want. It's like when people keep finding symbols in everything and that they're sure it's some huge conspiracy behind those symbols. It's quite sad actually, and it's definitely been a major factor as to why I can't take religion seriously any more, and why I don't intend to ever step in a chuch again.
To be honest I wished that in some way there was actually any good in religion, so far Ive seen Buddhism as a good choice but I never fully grasped Christianity. Then again I read the bible front to back and some of what I read......its just horrible but they believed in it.Hell, there was one time where during my early Jr year in Catholic High school, there was a friend of mine that was forced to believe in God by his parents. He had everything done upon him: Toys burned or thrown in trash because it was devil's work, had coffee enemas because he tried dating, you name it. He ended up running away from home with nothing but the clothes on his back and cash both saved and stolen from his parents. Haven't seen him since then. and to this day I wonder about him. I am not a religious person, never have been and probably never will be. As much as I can tolerate for what you believe in there is a fine line for that. So please, to any of whom I trust here, don't go to the extremes. You will only make a fool of yourself and what you believe in.
