By that logic Pokemon is like Dissidia. MGS:PW leveling up your workers was like Dissidia, right?

Tons of games have implemented leveling up. I'm not saying that calling it an upgrade is not debatable, but the comparison you made was not very good.

Pokemon is an RPG , Dissidia is not, I mean how many fighting games out there had a leveling up system ?

Anyhow, tried this out. While I do have Tag 2 to get around the fact that there's no local play nor training mode, I still think that's somewhat unfair especially when people have to spend match coins to get any game time when they lose.
You get one Premium Ticket per online win which allows you one go at any mode you want, and you can stack up to 999.

So I feel this may heavily encourage skill until the one point where someone manages to max his stats, where it'll be a battle of raw skill against stats.

I'm kinda sorta planning on staying vanilla on my main account.

So far, I've managed to battle mostly vanilla stats players. The furthest anyone's gone is maybe 3 tops in each category, from what I've seen in about an hour of play.

My first character unlock was Steve. Anyone else get anybody different? I've come across Bryan, Young Heihachi, and Jinpachi in Arcade, so I'm sure they'll be unlocked eventually.

I came across Bryan, Jinpachi and Alisa (WHAT A TEASE) in Arcade mode.
I only want to unlock Alisa and Raven.

Alisa was my first unlock. Though it doesn't matter to me because I play the third scrubbiest character in the series Lili and she's unlocked from the start.

The stats thing is going to be a BIG problem later on. Raw skill can get by just fine for now since stats are low, but once people are halfway to max, raw skill won't matter if your stats aren't up to par either. Highest I've seen so far was a 7-15-7 Alisa though I have a 12-12-12 Lili right now.

Token thing will get annoying. Once you run out of tokens you got to use your premium tickets. You get a ticket back if you win, so it's possible to play forever if you're actually able to keep winning, but we all know you're going to lose at some point and eventually run out of Premium tickets.

Say, there's an offline play, right, it's not online only ? Free, not unlocked by paying ? I never played online, never cared.

Actually, I read that and it's the reason I'm confused. http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/jun/11/tekken-revolution-overview-how-it-works-costs-premium-coins-and-much-more/ says you can do arcade battles and win coins in that mode - it even says that credits is unlocked automatically as time passes. Is there a point where I'll have to go online ? Or is that "arcade mode" actually online already ? (like an arcade machine rather than the arcade mode every other fighter has) Or maybe by "no local" you mean no local player vs player ?
(well, it does say you can have at most 2 arcade coins at a time and you get a new one every 60 minutes... But beating arcade gets you a premium ticket which lets you play arcade too)

You have to be online to actually play the game, but yeah, Arcade is just your regular arcade mode.
There's no local versus or training mode.
