Agreed, that was a really great episode. Capaldi was absolutely at the top of his game. Although it does raise a lot of weird questions.

How did the Doctor get inside his own confession dial? Wasn't it set up this whole season to be a Timelord's last will and testament, not some pocket dimension?
And didn't he give that to Ashildr before he left? How did it end up on Galifrey?
More to the point, who was it that hired Ashildr to do all of this anyway?
And how the hell did he get to Gallifrey anyway? It should still be frozen in the that pocket universe.
I hope the finale manages to clear all this up in a decent way.
Well, in the first place, we have no idea how a confession dial is supposed to work at all, so they can show it however they want, it doesn't really bother me.

What I don't get is, if this whole thing was a confession dial, then the teleporter brought him in it, and supposedly the Veil creature was pretty much tailored to him (they said in interviews that it was specifically made to reference something that happened to him in his childhood, hence why the Doctor says "I know you"), so the entire trap was either made by himself as part of a process to set up a confession dial, or we've been completely misled by Missy's comparison to a "last will and testament" and it was never set up by the confessing Time Lord himself but better compared to, like, I don't know, a trial or something, something put upon the confessing Time Lord by someone else who wants to make him talk. A confession with relents of inquisition rather than a willing testament.
Peter Jackson just announced that he's going to be directing an episode of Doctor Who next season by way of a pretty great video wherein he ignores emails from Steven Moffat while polishing his Oscars.
I can't fucking wait.
... And Peter Capaldi tumbling around from behind LOL.
By the way, that already kills the impressions that the teaser for the season finale about "regeneration in progress" are hinting that Capaldi is already making a surprise departure. That didn't last long.
