yo, @felineki: where did this animation appear?

it's listed as a taunt in your .air, but I can't recall ever seeing it in any of the DS games, or even CFJ.

It was unused. Also, haven't been around in a while, what was the reason for not using the CFJ set again? I personally prefer it because they attempted to fix his height a bit. Shouldn't affect hitboxes since they're the same as VS2.

There's something kinda off about the CFJ sprites. I can't really explain it. Also, JNP and felineki both think the DS ones are better (but they don't remember why):
I don't remember all the reasons but me and Felineki: finally came to the conclusion that the DS sprite set was the best. I'm hoping he remembers the reasons as they were very good! Or you can just take my word for it!
As for DS VS CFJ sprites, from what I remember, what I didn't like about the CFJ ones was that the resizing seemed inconsistent, and sometimes a little sloppy. I think some things might have also been missing, like pre-Savior j.LK (the sharply downard angled one).

As for the size issue, I am also not a fan of DS Demitri's height.

And there's not even that much difference between the CFJ sprites and the DS sprites, stretched!


Though it's about Demitri right now, I think I should say it anyway: Ken's intro against QB's Terry isn't working (haven't tried it against Vyn's).  Terry does his animation, but Ken defaults to his random intros.

I checked his system for the intro against Terry and I think a few lines of code are missing.
Try redownloading Ken. I just tried it and it all worked fine.

Mind if I ask why you didn't go with the SvC version? I much prefer those sprites.

Not a complaint or anything, a good Demitri is welcomed regardless of spriteset.

He doesn't care for them or any sets derived from them, it was part of the big post I quoted last page

Also glad to see you decided to do the height increase JM, ever since felineki showed the effect of just increasing the height and leaving the width alone that's seemed like the best solution

Yeah, results seem about the same, doesn't look bad, actually. In fact I'd say it looks better because CFJ fucked his face up worse than his VSav select/vs portrait that made him look like Quasimodo.

that dampir set looks pretty bad tbh.

also jmorph go with the original sprites. i prefer the original face, the hair is like only a couple of inches taller, it's not a huge deal in the least

LOL! Yeah, I never really noticed that until now. What's the big deal with his CS? I mean, I'm new to it, so I may be down-playing it a bit. I suppose since you're the eccentric type, you're gonna make it harder than it needs to be. :P

Well, this is what I have right now:

This doesn't even have the new kerchief color I found last night. :(

And of course there's gotta be 2 .act's for each individual palette, for the flashing aura.

Depending on how things go, I may or may not do this full, extensive separation all at once: I might just do the hair, eyes, vest, and cape. I definitely gotta do the last two, if only because of how the shading is done in the red areas:

that brown shade is just so jarring, and now, because the time I've spent going through Demitri's sprites, I can't not see it anymore. His sprites have kinda been ruined for me! D:

But even if I do a limited separation for the initial release, I'll eventually get to doing the full separation. I think it'll really improve the look of the sprites:

(not sure about the more saturated coat/pants colors, it's just a test right now)

That palette looks like a nice mix between VSav since it isn't TOO dark like CFJ's is.

Real question is whether palette submissions should be done in GIF to show off the aura contrast, or in PNG so they're separate. Could write a tool for GIF's if enough people want to submit in an animated format.

Actually since it'd be palette swapping, they'd need to be separate, yeah. Unless you use "animated PNG's" like Vans did a while back for Jedah. That preserves palette information for each frame.
