Did anyone here play a game called Oni, made by Bungie, pre-microsoft? The combat system used a mix of guns and melee, but the melee system alone was pretty deep, and rather fun. The thing is, the combat system revolved around movement. The approach meant almost as much as the hit. Would anyone want to try and make a movement based combat system for 2d?
You can always take the initiative and start working on it yourself, then I'm sure others will follow.
