Hello, guys, since you have some Galleries, I decide to open mine, but follow my Other Galleries so I won't list all and each of those Galleries...

Hello, everybody, since now I'm focusing on KOF XI Portraits (obviously, self-made, to give it a try for myself), and talking about that, here is my progress on Yurika (sketch only, non XI Background)...



Any thoughts? Any feedback is welcome...

Hello, too focused on KOF XI Portraits (self-made), but here showing the Semi(?)final Version of Yurika's KOF XI Portrait (non XI Background):



So, should I improve something before proceeding to give her the XI Background? Any thoughts? Any feedback is welcome...

Well Definitely work on the chin its just too sharp like she needs a Jaw bone and maybe more of a nose as well.

Here look at  this picture

 

Note the chin and nose.

Your's is more shaped like a very sharp "V" when it should be less narrow and more wide .

Same with the nose  give it more well space. Its more of a little hump now  imo.

Use this reference picture and make it more these for the desired effect.

The thing is - does she look like Yurika to you?
I'm not trying be rude or anything, but she's really weird.
The base does not look good. But the part most noticeable is her face.

With a little edit, I get this result:


Well, but still needs work.
One day someone will rip the Inuyasha stages... Not today nor tomorrow, probably not even in this decade. But you know, someday... :')

You need to make it closer to the source material.

1. Make sure the shape of the face matches the reference.
 
2. Add details where possible.

3.Also make sure that  facial expression matches up as well.

Here is a quick edit of your work thus far.



My steps taken



Your face looked like it was being stretched vertically and was not wide enough to feel like the character.

Not to mention the eyes were to small and the facial expression wasn't there either. You should work on that before going in on laying the extra shading on. Hope this helps!

Gonna borrow the edit you've made, but gonna polish it, because I was talking as references all and XI Portrait, but before the final version (with background and all) I'm gonna point out those edits, because I'm going to take a hiatus of Spriting and focusing on XI Portraits...

I'm going to be honest!! :shocked2:

 I feel like you could have pushed this a good bit more and added a deeper level of detail.

Shading between the hair is inconsistent with the face.

There are no folds or creases on her dress. She does have a body with bones and curves right? Make the viewer feel like there is something alive under the clothing.


I feel That pretty much everything is lacking a good layer of detail. Honestly still feels undone. Take your time and try to add details to this piece.

I'm not sure why but I just don't really dig Ninon Beart's eyes and face shape in all of the large portraits... She looked kinda... old IMO? She's lacking cuteness lol. And Yurika looked inconsistent too, borrowing thanewdude07's word. But the sprites are pretty good. I think you're better at spriting than at making portraits but there's always room for improvement though

But I've made the most possible for reaching her profile, in which Portraits did you looked her Old? And is there something I can improve on there?

I might ask for a favor, but after my upset I suppose that you won't help me, Dude07. How could I make the hair creases on the left side (viewer's right, if you turn horizontally)?

2001 and 2003... not saying that it's ugly or something... but there's just something that doesn't really make her look like Ninon... when I first saw these 2 portraits I had the impression of seeing someone different... just sayin'

Well, after some days of retouching, here I leave this little update of the Yurika Kirishima KOF XI Portrait (Still) WIP:



As I try to emulate the creases of the hair, I take base of her Story Backgrounds, thoughts?

It looks better
I think I might have figured out what went wrong:
- The jaw and chin's shape seems a bit unnatural for me, they look a bit uneven which gave her a sharp chin, giving me the impression of seeing a middle-aged woman
              - You can try "trimming the chin", that would make her jaw & chin evenly shaped and look circular, for someone with a young look like her
- Her mouth needs to go down a bit
- Her eyes doesn't seem like they're looking at the same direction:
              - Her right eye's iris should look at her left direction, I'm getting the feeling that the left one is looking left and the right one at the right
 
I'm just an amateur to so don't take my words too seriously lol, I'm just describing the portrait in my own perspective, otherwise you did a good job considering that this is custom-made
You could try asking Melcore for tips, he makes great KOF 2003 portraits, like the one of my OC in my signature. I simply edited it and added a hat:
