Yeah shoes would probably be easier because they could just be cut and pasted from Cody and maybe Guile.

That video was cool, but I think if Lee were to be put into a game he should be more than just a re-colored Yun. He should resemble Gen/Yun/Yang, but should also be his own character. I will post some ideas on him soon. Also, I wouldn't add in any new levels if I remade SF1, I would just use the old ones from SF1. They are still perfectly good, and it would be nostalgic to see them.

I know it's off topic, but is anyone else close to that new hurricane that most people in the US are freaking out about?

Well, about stages, I suggest you to find look-a-likes or their remixes. For example, 0megaturb0 remade some of stages, you may like this.

Here is the links if you're interested: 1, 2.

Nice levels. I think I still prefer the original ones though, just for nostalgia.

Was brainstorming a moveset for  Lee. Was thinking he should resemble Gen/Yun/Yang, but still be his own character as much as possible. Maybe since he has a restaurant, his specials/supers could be named after Chinese food. Also, maybe he could have some sort of theme going for him. Like maybe the objective when using him would be to counter the opponents' attacks from different angles. Here's what I had:

Specials
--------------------------------------
Won Ton - Zig Zag back + K - Lee flips backwards towards the wall, bounces off, and does a diving kick. Similar to Vega's dashing claw move. The strength of the button pressed determines the angle of the kick.

Chop Suey - Zig Zag forward + P - Lee does a dashing punch similar to Terry Bogard's burning knuckle. This counters both standing and crouching attacks.

Peking Duck - Zig Zag forward + K - Similar to Kim Dragon's anti air from World Heroe's, this is Lee's anti air.

Supers
--------------------------------------
Lo Mein - Double QCF + P - Similar to Yang's super in SF3 where he punches with both hands simultaneously.

Kung Pao Special - Double QCF + K - Lee does his dashing punch, follows with Gen's mashable punch special, then grabs the opponent, jumps into the air, and stomps on them 1-3 times depending on the level of super used.

Also, did some coloring today. Thanks to DaiKawahara for the Lee head and to Croix for the Gen sprites. Though it's not 100% complete, at least you can see where I was going with his basic attacks.

Just finished these. This should be enough to finish most of Joe's sprite sheet. Next step is to recolor the skin and pants:

btw first one was the original, not done by me

UPDATE

more progress on Joe:

He has no neck and his upper body is perfectly still through all the frames.

  • The Yatagarasu will be coming in any moment.
You should move his head up a little so you can add a neck there as Alex said. He looks like as if he's cringing his head downward like a hunchback.

Well, it definitely turns down the quality of animation...
Not a deadly flaw though, it would look really better if it was more animated.

Hmm ok, I will keep that in mind. Might go back at the end and add some slight up and down animations to the arms.

Took a jab at adding a neck:

I don't mean to critique you too harshly but if you continue doing what you do you might as well call the character White Deejay by the time you're done. The character lacks any sort of unique personality as is since all you're doing is editing/recolouring off of Deejay.

eh, no big deal. I was actually going by his sf1 sprite sheet. I think the point of Joe too was always to be really generic and basic. I have seen some Joe characters people have made, and they are well animated, but it seems  like they tried too hard to change him. this was what I was going for -- as you can see, all I really have left are his standing kicks, then I was going to give him a few specials and add the damage sprites and he's done. Dee Jay doesn't have Cody's kick though:

Be that as it may my point is you're not making Joe so much as you're just frankensteining/recolouring Deejay. Like if your intention is to make Joe 1:1 then why does he wear Deejay's baggypants still and not the red jeans and sneakers?

lol one step at a time dude, you gotta give me a chance. I'm going to re-color deejay's pants after I get it all done. not sure about the shoes though. was thinking he could look okay without them, but I might go and add those back. once I have his moves and skin and head done, it will be easy to recolor the pants.
