A Bit Reverse Tournament -Reborn Edition- Portrait Thread

What is this post? It's a portrait thread. Nothing more needs to be said.
Just kidding. There is more to be said.

Templates are included in the download. A video tutorial is also included, make sure to watch that!

Tips and resources:
The sprite image for the select screen port is resized to 189%. If your character is resized in the DEF or CNS file(s) then just divide or multiple 189 accordingly.
For those pesky low res images turning into blurry garbage use http://waifu2x.udp.jp/ to upscale them. Trust me it does wonders.

Yes I know about the Double D on the P2 portrait. But as in the character I've found sprites with the Double D reverted, I let it like that, for the moment. Still usable I think.

Back from vacation. Those look great. I'm going to redo the ports I made because there are some things I want to change.

Don't mean to be a nitpick but, SakuraNeko you're missing the lifebars port and Hephaistos31 you are missing the small, versus and lifebars ports. Though you all probably know that.

I'm looking for your work, SpazMaster!
I think I'll convert the whole DBZ EB roster soon, as I remade all the pictures.

I dont use the LB's in the SP, so i don't make them unfortunately. I could easily make some just so the port sets could be complete but i use my own custom LB's. Though lately i've been using the new Hexademical LB's.

Small Ports for my whole roster are almost done. Just a few more rows and then ill move onto Big + Versus.

I'm working by batch. First Big (and win), then versus, and small and LB. But I'm not really fan of the LB of this SP.. So maybe I'll change! ^^
I still have to update my website to put what I have in store.

the LB's in this SP are nice, but i hate Bottom Power Bars so it was an instant No No for me. Otherwise design wise they are nice. But i like my Custom LB's and these Hex LB's more. And i do small first because they are the quickest and i hate a messy looking select screen.

Ah, I see. I agree that the lifebars are not exactly the best but I still use them for the sake of consistency. I've seen these lifebars before. look pretty good.

Remade Amingo. I'll do the others soon. And some new ones. :D

Redid Mashiro's Sprite in the big Port, used Waifu2x to upscale her sprite instead of just increasing her size in PS, much better as she's no longer blurry and her outline glow isn't as choppy anymore.

No need of any tool for the sprite. Resize it in PS, and instead of "Bilinear filtering" when you are resizing it, use "Nearest Neighbor".
It'll do the trick.

Well its not a tool its a site, u just load up the image, click some boxes and hit convert or download.

Also i just tried what you said and it came out still worse then what Waifu2x came out with.

Waifu2x (2x Size)

Photoshop (200%, Nearest Neighbor)

Waifu2x (2x Size + 1pixel Feathered in PS)

Huh. I never thought of using Waifu2x for the sprites. It looks good except for the edge of the sprite. Still kept that choppy mess.

Here is a way to fix that. Just came up with it now. Feather the sprite by one pixel. Looks like this after resizing:

No need of any tool for the sprite. Resize it in PS, and instead of "Bilinear filtering" when you are resizing it, use "Nearest Neighbor".
It'll do the trick.

That will work just fine as well.

Different ways of doing things for preference. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes, I agree with you guys.
So let's say that for me, the nearest way looks... 1 million times better!  :P
It is supposed to be a preview of the character, the sprite. :)

But I have absolutely no problem with the fact that you could use the other way!!! Everyone can do what they want of course!!

You have a very good point, normally when i use a SP that shows a sprite of the char, i try to upscale the sprites so their all the same size. But for this one i kept it the original size in comparison to the other characters. You can see that with Astraea compared to Mashiro.

I just wanted to clean up her sprite because it made the outer glow jagged as well. Which was very noticable.
