It's a cursor trick. Basically, your cursor is one huge animation with each character offset at the right position. It's really only ideal for a full game. You wouldn't want to implement this into a regular screenpack.

C-r-a-v-e-r said, November 17, 2013, 10:55:39 pmbut yes what you have to consider parameters?Dude...... 3 month, old, topic bump. Read last reply.............Or is that not in effect in development help?
There are no parameters except that the window size for the cursor to move has to be 640x480 and once again this is not something you would do in a screenpack outside of a full game, but since you are hard headed and wont accept no for an answer, ill show you a method which I doubt you would be able to comprehend with.this is an old and lost project of mines.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Td7yOeSKOU go to 0:28The character animations is one big ass giant cursor. No the stance is not animated because all characters DO NOT have the exact amount of standing frames so I did something a bit different which is another reason why this is best for full games.and here is the cursor itself well one demo frame of the animationSpoiler, click to toggle visibiltyThis is the guide chart i was going to share with others when i made this project final.Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyAs you can see the setup is in reverse for a resaon, anyway by any chance you are going to attempt this, I would suggest making a template and make the roster anywhere from 10-20. Doing this for those who want retarded pokemon size rosters is laughable, and pointless but for the final time again, FULL GAMES ONLY, unless you really know what you are doing...
finally ,I wonder if I would accordingly also have the answer, and have not heard it does not work or something. you do not want to die so ignorant. meant no harm. MFG,Craver

Iced said, November 19, 2013, 01:52:45 amTypical guild. Picking on those that know less and are eager to learn.Yeah, learn that its not a good idea outside of full games after being told countless amount of times, yep...
It doesn't matter how many times he may or may not have been told. Treating people trying to learn like that is completely unacceptable.
Being a "realist" does not entitle one to act like a giant douche. If you want to help someone, don't berate them for daring to ask for help.
No, not "yeah sure whatever". Not one, but two mods are telling you that your behavior was terrible. Don't dismiss that with a curt reply. This is not something to be taken lightly. Stop acting like a child.
-SyN- said, November 19, 2013, 08:15:55 pmThe fuck are you talkin about...Go try to Mod something more important....Joke staff here....Our job here is to promote creation. Making sure new users can get help and are criticized for asking for help is part of that. So yes, this is important.Stop dismissing this. Stop acting like a goddamn baby.
@-SyN-I don't see the point of bringing your opinion of the staff into this matter, their claims are valid. If you're trying to shrug off their warnings on the grounds of some Technical Prowess Superiority Complex, know these guys are accomplished in their field of expertise - Yeah, this joke staff:+ One is a better character coder than you+ One is a better spriter than you, and a very creative motherfucker.+ One is a far better troll than you.... and all of them are better than you at not losing their shit over the most minimal things. I mean, you're well known for having bad days often, and we get it, but there's no reason to just go running around spreading your bad mood all over the place. Not to mention, the original point Iced was making is still valid - you're acting like the Guild bastards you often complain about. I mean, you did help, and the guy is grateful ... there was no point in throwing jabs at the person asking the question. Nobody twisted your arm in any way, or put a gun to your head to reply and be helpful towards someone else.Seriously, you need to relax. If this hobby isn't satisfying you, and you have this need to lash out at everybody, you should consider a time out.
Quote+ One is a better character coder than youlol, yea, sure, whatever...Quote+ One is a better spriter than you, and a very creative motherfucker.Thats nice...Quote+ One is a far better troll than you.Who's trolling? Besides I despise them with all of my heartQuoteIf this hobby isn't satisfying you.... With all of the repetitive pots styled labeled predictable material released on a daily basis, perhaps your right....
-SyN- said, November 19, 2013, 08:58:04 pmWith all of the repetitive pots styled labeled predictable material released on a daily basis, perhaps your right....Yup. Not at all a laughably inept exaggeration. Get real.
-SyN- said, November 19, 2013, 08:58:04 pmWith all of the repetitive pots styled labeled predictable material released on a daily basis, perhaps your right....What does this have to do with anything anyone is saying to you about your attitude? I had a lot of respect for you Syn. Your and KB's works were heavy inspiration for me to start creating for MUGEN. While I still respect your coding prowess, most of your posts I've seen around here are just overly aggressive and ornery for unwarranted reasons. I never imagined you'd be this way, but, I guess a person's demeanor is a different story from their contributions to MUGEN. Relax man. Everything doesn't have to be you against everyone or however you see it. You're reading into things way too much.

I can understand that. I figured it is due to past experiences that force someone to harden up. I don't know how long you've been around, but I know far longer than I. I understand that things were a lot different say 5+ years ago, but things aren't like that now. No one is trying to come down on you for anything. No one is trying to give you a hard time. Aside from anyone just looking to be an asshole or something. That aside, I'm sure the majority of us just want to have fun, and escape the everyday BS we all have to deal with IRL. I'm sure you too as well. That's what hobbies are for. Don't lose sight of that concept/ideal.
That stuff is all ancient history (on the internet, at least) that is better off forgotten, isn't it? And so many of the people involved are long gone (and good riddance). It's best to move on from petty nonsense that lies in the past so one can go on, unencumbered, to do bigger and better things.

Posts from today.
Those posts didn't come about in a vacuum. But regardless, the best thing is still to ignore it and move on.
really, it's a topic I do not care in the leastjust say something, to try to teach new members who want to learn, is actually rather annoyingfor they do not understand difficult things, things that are easy for usbut hey, we are willing to help as detailed as possibleand always with respect
Sorry Craver. You didnt deserve that kind of treatment.Anyway if you have more questions about animated ports, Ill be happy to provide more info.
-SyN- said, November 20, 2013, 01:51:11 pmSorry Craver. You didnt deserve that kind of treatment.Anyway if you have more questions about animated ports, Ill be happy to provide more info.okay.how should I proceed before the first thing? We acknowledge the work mugen 1.1 beta1 version patch1 as standart screen pack.
well first off, your cursor has to be huge to cover whatever mugen res/localcoord your using. do you have a design for your select screen?
For this test let's take the default screenpack of elebyte, simply just to understand the principle. MFG,Craver
ok, whatever resolution, you have to make that image as huge as the amount of characters you plan on doing this for.So you have 16 characters, well you needs an image thats your current height multiplied by 16 as well as the width multiplied by 16.example:if your width is 1280 than that needs to be multiplied by 16, same with the height if its 720.Remember I said earlier, the cursor has to move covering the entire screen so with 16 different characters in a 1280x720, you can position where you want the animated stance at on each image then compile them into that one big image. Its really similar to the font menu trick many use in screenpacks but the difference with this is1. this can be animated2. however you have your characters added to the select screen the cursor has to be a mirror positioning image. The reson for that because when you use your d-pad or arow keys to select a character, the cursor moves in reverse thus making your selection accurate. Another good example is Rednavi's last cvsw installment and I used that to help me with cursor movement in the video I posted earlier. Posted: November 20, 2013, 06:14:09 pmOne other thing, just like the font menu trick, your cursor has to be in the 256 color limit. Posted: November 20, 2013, 06:17:55 pmI would also like to say one of the cool things about the cursor trick is making hidden character slots like in alot of fighters where you press up or down on a certain select box and a new port shows. That was demonstrated on my video as well and this select cursor trick is perfect for that.
Can you explain that to me in more detail.I multiply the number of char mechanism is clear but where I tuhe then enter in the mugen.cfg,in the Video Mode?what needs what and where made which entry and so on?example is just the above default of mugen screen pack by Elecbyte.I hope that's okay, because I have no plan where I need to enter what.MFGCraver
I haven't forgot about you, ill have to continue this tomorrow after work.Btw all the info i mentioned above was for the default motif your using.
