Apparently as followup of the events where the Zetas started killing people that had posted information about them online, some mexican anonymous started taking efforts into revealing their data into the internet with threats to do so starting to show up as direct replies to the attacks by the violent cartel.
This sort of thing showing up after their efforts nto silencing the masses poses the question, can violence truly silence the dissident forces that are using the internet to fight the Cartels?

Anonymous have done plenty more than picket Cult of Scientology buildings.  Bomb plots, animal cruelty, they've had their thumb in stopping a lot of unsavoury things.
Hibernating.

Best possible scenario: Anon gets to post a lot of zeta intelligence and then...nothing happens.

Just what I was thinking.
The problem doesn't seem to be knowing who they are.

I think he was commenting more on how the Zetas have too much control in mexico, not that the effort isnt valid. It is very likely that they have people high in the police force, since even when people know who they are, nothing happens.

Given the notoriety of Los Zetas, November 5th will be something alright.

One shouldn't completely rule out an outcome, either; I'm pretty sure this cartel has rivalries in the country.
Sometimes you just need a little less gun.

Deepnding on whose names they release they might release the names of people who ahve their families held hostage to let the zetas operate and not some "white collar guys who do it for the money".

So you're saying no rival cartels would do with any of the information of their locations?

To me I see things getting worse, once the rivals knows who the Zetas are and where they live its going to be an all out drug war.

Its going to ensue more chaos is what I'am saying

Members of the hacktivist collective Anonymous who threatened to post identifying information online about the civilian associates of Los Zetas, one of Mexico’s most powerful and violent drug cartels, have backed down just days before the November 5 target date for their operation.

At the same time, Milenio points out that other Anonymous members in the English-speaking world have not thrown in the towel and are still planning on releasing incriminating information about Los Zetas collaborators on November 5, Guy Fawkes Day, as originally planned.

The newspaper quotes another Anonymous Twitter account, “@AnonymouSabu,” reportedly belonging to notorious Anonymous hacker Sabu, as tweeting the following: “# OpCartel is more alive than ever and as I told others in private, the war against corruption is on both sides of the spectrum. We are going to WAR!”

Eh?

What the -- ? Come again ? The Feds posted face shots of people affiliated with the group that threatened a bigass murderous drug cartel ? With name and personal informations ? Excuse me ?? Or was that completely unrelated ?

Yeah, but as long as they're within the reach of the drug cartel, I don't expect the cartel to give a crap about that detail.

yeah, this is why the grouping of anonymous is a really confusing and inconvenient thing in some cases. the cartel could just find any potential member of anonymous and do whatever. grab some poor random sap and murder him and say he was a 4chan regular.
