This is my story:When I first got a job, I was working an over-night shift with my mom, so we had the same schedule. After coming to terms with myself and figuring out who and what I was, it took me a while to come up with the courage to finally tell my mother what half of the town and my family already suspected anyway. So, one morning after we came home from work, I plopped down on her bed and said, "Hey Mom... I think I'm kinda gay." "Are you really?!" "Yeah..." "Well....... you know you're going to Hell, right?"Not the perfect scenario nor the support that I was seeking at all. I later found out that it was just the initial shock that I said it out loud and she was tired from the previous nights work. She doesn't really think that at all and she supports and loves the hell outta me! My family had always suspected it of me from the get go anyway. After I told my mom, I realized how much pressure was off of me and how I loved finally being myself and not hiding. Telling everybody and anybody else after that was a breeze. So, long story short (too late, I know), don't take the first immediate reaction as the one that's gonna stay with them forever. At the core, your parents love you, and that should always come through, no matter what. Also, like in my story, there are prolly people already thinking that you're a part of my extended 'family' anyway, so why not just tell them? I know all of this is easy for me to say because you are the one that's actually going through it, but ya really have to trust that it will be a big relief. I hope this helps. Good luck!

If he thinks it's drugs, he SHOULD be relieved to hear that it's not the case, but if he's as bad as you say he is, you need to get out of that situation any way that you can. Do you have any other family members that you can stay with. What about friends? Does he get physically abusive? That's not cool. You do have the right to call someone for help, be it a counselor or the police. No one should lay a hand on you. That's called 'illegal'. Sorry, I don't mean to be a smart ass, it just comes naturally. So, asses the situation the best you can and find out what is best for you.

Zax, you're being over defensive. Saying a gay person is gay and saying a black person is a nigger are two different contexts. Just because a straight person calls a gay person gay doesn't mean the person is insulting you.
