Yup starting a new character in the Chaos series(not svc -_-)

Heres whats done so far

- All Basic movements... fairy accurate to CVS2 not 100%

- All get hits and required sprites

- 2 win poses and 1 intro

- Dodge

- Taunt

- All standing basic attacks

- 4 Crouching basics


Q&A

Q: Why is he called Chaos Balrog?

A: Its just a name prefix i use for my characters like Rajaa uses for his or anyone else for that matter. The characters are in my style how i would like them to play i generally dont make them accurate to the game but this character will feature ALMOST accurate movements to cvs2 (only movements).... please note i said almost so dont say something clever like (he isnt accurate blah blah)


Q: What new features will he have?

A: i dont really want to give to much away at this stage it will spoil the suprise but keep watching this thread. BUT i can tell you he will have his sf4 ultra combo.


Q: what voice are you using

A: cvs2

small verbal update.


finished all ground basics(including crouch)

working on air basics and then specials.

thanks to anjel i learned art money, so damage will be accurate to cvs2 apart from the new stuff

Verbal Update:

all basic attacks done(ground crouch air)

all special moves done and EX versions.

working on throws now... he will have 3;  his one handed over the shoulder throw, his gut punch throw and his repeated headbutt throw.. i also think he had an air throw ill look into that as im not sure if he does but in his sprites he has one so ill play the game and check it out.


next after throws will be working on his supers

in a way not having the internet right now(apart from when i visit my parents like now) is actually a good thing for me because all i have to focus on is the character he is coming along faster than any character ive made wether released or private.


so yay :)...


also for his dashing specials i have gave him the ability to back dash out of them at any time(as long as the punch anim isnt playin) and ive tested them all and it works great, the weaker ones are harder but possible because they are faster and have shorter range but i did it.

EX dashing specials are back dashable out of them also.

buffalo headbut ex hits twice.


but yea so only a verbal update right now, but expect a video sunday(when im eating sunday roast -__- god my mums cooking sucks)

ill narate during the video too to show some stuff and talk about certain things.


oh one last thing, turn punch charge it fully and it does max damage..... charge for min of 30 gameticks (half second) and its minimum, in cvs2 it took a long time to charge to him saying "Final" so i shortened the max time which is 600 gameticks which is 10 seconds.
that wont have an EX version(well im not sure yet)....

all ideas are welcome but my main focus is getting the throws done right now and at least 1 super by sunday.



owning the game really helped because i havent used balrog much before not even in sf2. 

all damage is accurate to cvs2 (using c-groove) but expect my own ideas too which obv wont be accurate but nonetheless ill balance that.

few things about the video

dampener hasnt been added yet
havent set ANY combos up yet
forgot to show dodge which was coded.
i said id have a super coded but didnt have time so next time...
youtube frame rate sucks :)
video was edited around 2mins noticable music change because i wasnt prepared to go through waiting for each turn punch charge damage lol, but the turn punch has 10 different types of damage hence him saying "1", "2", "3",(skipped 4,5,6,7,8,9) "final"

nah in cvs2 theres no ground bounce.  youtube isnt doing it much justice -_-

theres a few frames when he lands not just one.

going fine, crazy buffalo is in the works just having a problem as you can see in developmental help post lol

once that problem is sorted i can work more on him.


after crazy buffalo im gonna add his other 2 specials i forgot about

his dashing sweep move

and dashing crouching strong punch  in which both knock p2 off his/her/its feet.    it? might be godzilla :S


ive changed the backdash cancel command to the dodge command because BB is too slow in light versions of the dashing punches you gotta be ridiculously fast so dodge command fixed that as its only 1 press(2 buttons)

update:

Finished Crazy Buffalo lvl 3 version... just gotta code the lvl 1 & 2 next which is more of a copy paste & amend job.

Finished Dash Ground Straight(dashing sweep) trips p2.

Finished Dash Ground Uppercut (dashing crouching uppercut) knocks p2 off feet


both have EX versions which act like the dash straight and dash uppercut specials(faster than normal versions)

New move thanks to Staubhold for the move idea itself.

basically balrog grabs p2 turns with them and shoves them in the opposite direction

slight edit to his glove from closed to open.

after the shove and during p2 is vunerable to attack, kinda like fei longs hop over p2's back move.

but because balrogs shoves them a little further its best used when with your back to the corner like a defensive move, i managed a 5 hit combo after this shove with my back to the corner so it works wonders for that.  mid screen probably only a hard punch or kick is possible at the moment.

but this will have an EX version too which either might be faster, or same speed but leaves p2 vunerable for longer

Thanks man,  Headbutt move already in now coded it 2 days ago, 4 headbutts in total(a little like on sf4) on last headbutt knocks p2 back(falling)

but gamegod's idea does seem cool, because while falling to his knee's mayb a combo would be cool from it.(does everyone have the falling to knees capcom guard kill animation though -__-)


just added his static dodge too.  dodge = y+b  static dodge = B+y+b

also on KO wether its special basic or super ive added a sf4 type pausetime on KO impact(pauses all animation for few gameticks then plays the rest after the pause(about 30 i made it)i liked this idea from sf4 so i just decided to add it.  also on KO(wether super bg finish or not) the normal cvs2 sound plays then after a small delay a boxing bell "ding ding ding"   :wacky:

How about a move where a magically spawned audience throws cans and tomatoes on stages, hitting either you or your opponent, but aimed at the opponent? By "magically spawned," I just mean the audiences' voices.

Sounds more like a Dan move.

would be hillarious but could get annoying for some i mean the damage should be tiny of course, but say one hits you and while it does p2 deals some pretty hardcore damage they might get a little irritated.

i did have a mini game in mind inspired by your lilliths actually not sure wether to include it yet. As a super move a punch bag drops down near p2 various commands like LP LP MP ect pretty fast but noticable and a little time limit bar would appear and that would be your time limit to do the command in, if successful he could combo on the bag (while hitting the bag it would be hitting p2)

i do have a punchbag sprite but the animation on it is limited so i might try editing myself or asking someone for some help with that.

sounds like a cool idea, im actually working on a super move right now that has some similarities(well 1 actually  ;P) which is the uppercut launcher, but i had a little something else in mind, all will be revealed.

man I think you should keep it simple like no air hyper thats just just not balrog and it seems like hes going to be mvc combo stylish  cvs is better or like kames cvsm.bison in kame goove config just my opinion anyways heres some more ideas you should add these effects to his EX moves and his sf4 hyper to make it more sf4 like


this one for the last uppercut of the sf4 hyper


and these for the EX upper and uppers in his hypers just make them white like wind


and for EX straits use the wind on his gigaton blow

one more thing he should have a turn upper like his turn strait but the upper makes p2 dizzy and the command should be hold all 3 kicks
please consider i have high hopes for this balrog peace :sugoi:

UPDATE:

Here is a video showing 2 new super moves........ "buffalo showdown" (original)
and his street fighter 4 ultra move "Violent Buffalo" im pretty pleased with it and have matched it as much as i can obviously sprite availability is limited but im proud of the outcome. also just showing his shove move(normal & ex version which pushes him further and pauses p2 for longer)

AFTERIMAGE is needed on the ultra i kinda forgot to stick it in but that will be included.

Very nice man, very nice!

Loved the throws, the new hyper , etc.

Just one thing: If he uses hi-res sparks, that Yamazaki effect should be hi-res too. I've made a tutorial about  how to  make  it, give it a try: http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=92866.0

I think that the result will be better.

nice video, pal! Loved the  Ring bell sound :)

But something I've noticed: while on power charge, his  powerbar fills too quickly. He can get 3 bars in less than 3 seconds.

update on FX for sf4 ultra, .(0). i followed your tutorial it helped but i couldnt get the blur right, i think im not supposed to use radial blur on a spinning effect lol

;final punch of buffalo showdown(changed to other arm) 3 extra hits.

gigaton blow

violent buffalo (sf4 ultra)

final hit.

powercharge is slower now.

2 random sounds play now instead of 1 for backdash cancel and added backhop sound.

extended sf4 ultra dust trail, same sprites but scaled to be thinner and longer gives off a better effect.



custom combo mode is in progress then his AI then done.
